About BAFL - Brakes Are For Losers

BAFL - Brakes Are For Losers is a top-down, single-screen racing game created as a tribute to good old games such as Super Sprint, Indy Heat or Super Off Road.

Description

Challenge your friends, pick a funky car and outrun them with your driving skills and dirty tricks. Ram them out of your way or pick up bonuses to wreck them.

BAFL is a tribute to Old School Arcade Racing Games.
Scooch together on the couch and gather up to 8 people playing on the same screen, compete in championships, upgrade your cars, and break friendships!

BAFL also offers a challenging solo experience with championships against fierce AIs and special modes such as Time Attack or Perfect Race.
Run in unique tracks inspired by the pop culture of the 80’s and 90’s along with funny details and surprising events. Each location takes you to a different setting, from peaceful Caribbean island to hellish underground, from fabulous Las Vegas all the way to the Moon!
BAFL is an invitation to dive in a state of the art old-school epic racing game. With no freaking brakes!

Features

  • Up to 8 player madness on the same screen.
  • A Hardcore brakeless driving style.
  • Solo and local multiplayer in challenging championships.
  • Time Attack and Perfect Race also without brakes.
  • Badass Soundtrack.
  • No. Brakes.

BAFL is the first game of studio Oudidon, founded by Alain Duverger, video game veteran who stormed out of mobile F2P game design to seek the roots of video gaming fun. The team also includes Aline Krebs, young talented artist that led the art direction and Aymeric Schwartz, experienced composer and sound designer (Rayman Adventures, Absolver, Splasher…) that provided BAFL with the perfect badass soundtrack to match the nervous gameplay.

Excellent game for 1-8 Local Couch PVP Players! Absolutely worth $10. Game is very responsive and polished. Can't hit ESC (Start on Xbox controller) and will instantly allow return to Main Menu. <GAME OPTIONS> Challenges: 1 Player Only Races: Chose 2, 4, 6, or 8 players with or w/o AI Bots Championship: Chose 2, 4, 6, or 8 players with or w/o AI Bots Custom Game: Chose 2, 4, 6, or 8 players with or w/o AI Bots Quick Race: Chose 2, 4, 6, or 8 players with or w/o AI Bots <1 Player Controls> [A] Nitro [B] Honk [LS] Steering <2-8 Players Controls> [LB] or [RB] Honk [LT] or [RT] Nitro [LS] or [RS] Steering I was able to do Local Couch COOP with an Xbox Core Controller + an 8BitDo Pro 2.

BAFL - Brakes Are For Losers is a fast, chaotic, and deliberately unorthodox arcade racer developed by Oudidon and published by Dear Villagers that embraces simplicity as both a design philosophy and a source of constant tension. At its core, the game revolves around a single bold idea: cars have no brakes. This one decision fundamentally reshapes every race, turning even the smallest corner into a gamble and every straightaway into a test of nerve. Rather than aiming for realism or simulation, BAFL channels the spirit of classic top-down arcade racers, delivering an experience that feels immediately familiar yet refreshingly unpredictable. The moment-to-moment gameplay is built around momentum management and spatial awareness rather than precise control. With braking completely removed from the equation, players must learn to anticipate corners well in advance, drifting wide, bouncing off track edges, or using rivals as unintentional buffers to maintain speed without spinning out. The controls are simple enough to grasp within minutes, but the physics-driven handling ensures that true mastery takes time. Each vehicle feels slightly different, and learning how to exploit its quirk…

Game is fun. You won't play it for very long time as there's not lot of content, but it does great job as being entertaining with friends. I recommand it if discounted.

NOT RECOMMENDED. The technical setup is incomplete. There is no way to specify screen resolution or detail levels and the 'windowed' mode is just the fullscreen res with a window wrapped around it. The game runs choppy as hell. When it comes to the game play, some tracks are impossible to run without hitting the walls constantly because the turning radius is a way big. Turning is a weird guessing game of when to turn and how much and probably gets boring once you figure out due to the lacking complexity of acceleration variation. The CPU seems to not be as affected by the item hazards as the player is that is completely screwed over by a mere control reverse effect that you cannot just shrug off like the CPU does. It does not seem fair at all. This game seems to have a lot of core polish and design issues like that. Yet another game that I was not worth the little I spent on it. It is so half-baked it is pointless.
