About Drifters Don't Brake

Drifters Don't Brake provides a very satisfying drifting experience. D.D.B. differs from other games of the genre by not allowing the player to control whether the car is accelerating or not. In D.D.B. your car is always accelerating!
The only way of reducing the car's speed is by drifting.

The Game

The game consists of hand-designed stages and challenges. Perfect for speed-runners, the game provides many different ways of completing the same stage. Shortcuts might help you get a lower stage time, but don't think it will be easy to get them.

Game Modes

 • Regular - Simply beat all the stages to complete this game mode. The game will save the lowest time you took to complete each stage.
 • Collectibles - There will be 3 stars placed in each stage. Completing a stage will award 1-4 stars depending on how many stars were collected.
 • Explorer - This is the last game mode. It also contains stars, but adds a new challenge: hidden areas. Those areas will reveal themselves when the car is close enough to the entrance.

Would have been a peak flash game but it got boring so quick, it's unbelievable.

The tracks very quickly become too technical to be enjoyable, it goes from first try to 30+ fails. Most turns don't feel like a good drifting area and you're constantly working against maps that don't look playtested.
The physics are confusing and don't make drifting enjoyable, the acceleration is just as weird. I expected drifting to be more controllable at lower speeds than high speeds like i'm used to, but it's the opposite, the slower you get and the least control you have. Overall it feels like driving a car whose horsepower oscillates between 40HP and 700HP depending on what color your socks are today, which makes it very hard to anticipate the turns and trajectory.
The soundtrack gets insufferable rather quick but you can only cut the entire game sound, removing the car noises by the same occasion... I'd have liked to be able to cut the music only so i play whatever music i want but still hear the noises.
I can see how some people would see this game as a challenge and fight their way through the levels but the difficulty that i'm facing seems to be coming much more from…

No options menu to turn off the annoying music, no mechanics other than drifting around corners that despite hand crafted, you get used to them pretty easily. The sensitivity of the wheel is so high that the difficulty of the game doesn't come from drifting at the right time and making the right turns. It comes from how fast you can one tap the A and D keys. Even a slight tap is enough to turn your car 180 degrees. As much as it looks like an interesting concept, the execution is not even bare minimum.
