Balancelot

Balancelot is one of those awful mobile-esque games where the game content itself is irrelevant, because the game revolves completely around wrestling with a deliberately awkward control scheme. These games never go well and Balancelot is no exception to the rule here.. it's not fun to play, on purpose, and gamers generally shun this kind of game because of that. They certainly succeeded in making an un-fun game. The theme is medieval unicycles, which is also a terrible idea, so at least there's symmetry with the overall game concept. It doesn't actually model the physics of unicycles, though, you just move left or right and this of course makes you topple, so you use the arrow keys to adjust your balance, and that, right there, is 100% of the game. Wake up, I know it's boring, but I'm serious, because they actually want to get paid for dumping this on Steam. It's a Nintendo Switch game, of course, although I think this would have gone on better on the app stores... the gameplay itself is shallower than Angry Birds, so you can see why as a PC gamer this kind of thing just comes across as valueless. Really enjoyable awkward control sim. Controls feels great and the levels are varied and well made. My only real complaint is the difficulty curve is all over the place, but the game is a solid recommend regardless! Probably just not my thing. I just hated the game feel but if you like games Gettinc over It you may love It, weird mechanic and pretty challenging. Kind of game it's fun to watch someone playing and getting angry more than playing it

Developers had a great idea and the game has potential when it comes to unique concepts. On paper this feels like another fun game for all the masochists out there. But unfortunately, unlike other similar games, this one missed a mark for me and it falls completely flat. At places it tries to be quirky and funny but it just doesn't really land. Some mechanics are completely unnecessary and make the game random and not fun at all (girl throwing potatoes). But the worst part are the janky controls. Again, unlike other games from this genre, some controls just don't feel consistent at all which is a huge problem when you try to make an already hard game. Sometimes you get yeeted across half the map and sometimes you cannot jump over a pothole. These janky controls become especially annoying when you interact with moving objects where it was either overlooked or just straight up made to be annoying but if you hit a moving fish from the side you literally lose all ability to control your character and he just randomly swings around until you inevitably hit something and die.
