BAPTISM

Even though BAPTISM has great looking artwork and an interesting story premise, the actual contents of the game seem to be lacking. BAPTISM is a kinetic novel, there are no choices, no dividing paths, you only need to read the story to complete it. It can be completed fairly fast, depending on your reading speed, which was a disappointment in my opinion. I wished that it would have gone for longer, as the story was fairly interesting. I don't think I can recommend this game, as the amount of content you get seems too lacking. I guess if you have some cents leftover and you wish to own it, then go for it, but otherwise it's not worth it.

Игра 'BAPTISM' оставила смешанные впечатления. С одной стороны, мрачная, давящая атмосфера и пиксельная графика прекрасно передают ощущение безысходности и надвигающейся опасности. Звуковое сопровождение, состоящее из тревожных шумов и жутких мелодий, только усиливает этот эффект, заставляя постоянно ощущать дискомфорт. Геймплей, хоть и простой, достаточно увлекателен и требует вдумчивого подхода к исследованию локаций и решению головоломок. С другой стороны, игра ощущается несколько недоработанной. Сюжетная линия порой обрывается внезапно, оставляя множество вопросов без ответов. Некоторые механики кажутся не до конца реализованными, а в управлении порой возникают небольшие неудобства. Тем не менее, несмотря на эти недостатки, 'BAPTISM' - это оригинальный и запоминающийся хоррор, который определенно стоит внимания любителям жанра, готовых к не самым отполированным, но атмосферным инди-проектам. Игра затягивает своей загадочностью и держит в напряжении до самого финала, заставляя гадать, что же на самом деле происходит и к чему приведет эта мрачная история. Если вы ищете нечто большее, чем просто скримеры, и цените авторский подход, то 'BAPTISM' может стать приятным открытием.

I think this is a wonderfully sad little story about a family torn apart by religious beliefs and their own singular tragedies. It's beautifully written, and has some excellent art both of the drawn and photographic variety, and wonderful music. The static image of the angel statue that the family has in their home is honestly gorgeous, and I'd even buy it as a print if I could. I also love the design of each of our main characters as like biblically accurate angels with their eyes closed most of the time until near the end, but I don't want to spoil the ending. (I will just say it's not a happy one.) However, I would be amiss to not point out that this is one, just a half hour long, and two, doesn't have any broader "gameplay" so to speak. It's just "tap spacebar and read", but for something like this, and only for about a dollar, I'd say that's more than fine, and it was an overall positive experience for me. It's like reading a short horror story. So if you're looking for something a bit more interactive, this isn't for you. As the description says, it's a kinetic novel, not a visual novel. TL;DR: If you're looking for a sad little tragedy to read and have a half hour of time …
