About Culling of Normality
This game is a psychological horror VN set on a rural farm in middle-America. It is very short, taking only 15-20 minutes to read through once. It was made for the farmjam2024, and panic horror jam over the course of a month by a single person (myself).
The theme of the game is really simple: What do you do when your memory seems to be unreliable, and not line up with what you can see in front of you?
Warning: AI Slop This non-game e-book is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
"Culling of Normality" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This garbage e-book was not sincerely written, it was made for a "game jam", and I truly hope the "author" was forcibly removed, either for the use of AI slop or thinking that reading a book is the same thing as playing the game (it is not), or both. Or, it's the worst attempt at running a game jam ever. Books aren't games. The topic, of course, is the author's imaginary girlfriend, this time a farmer, and there's a horror twist that, should M Night…2 found this helpful
Couldn't really enjoy this one. Writing and grammar is fine. Not a fan of the art. Don't mind it being AI. It's free and dev's first game after all. Style just not to my taste. But I don't read VN's for the art. Narrative has an interesting concept, but the plot never gets explored in any depth. Some plot holes can be overlooked, but these are craters. And conclusion(s) felt unsatisfying as a result. Not bad exactly, but rather incomplete.2 found this helpful
#tinygamereviews

An unexpected choice for supernatural horror game. I played this game twice to see the endings. I wanted to give a review since it's your first work ;) Not bad :3 I like your art, it's very beautiful. I like story, simple, short, but good enough. I even teared up! If you played it then you know why. (no spoilers). All n all, I loved your game :) "Thumbs up" Am looking forward for your new game ;) Best of luck1 found this helpful
Very cool first game by a budding developer. I liked the story and I cant say much, but it was like a Twilight Zone episode. The ending caught me off guard and I really enjoyed the twists and turns! Excited to see more from this talented storyteller!1 found this helpful
