What's a murder mystery with no murder? That's right. Nothing. Barbara: Sex Story is an adult "visual novel" developed by Juicy Peach Games, and it's the lamest attempt at a murder mystery I've ever read. This, without hyperbole, makes Rian Johnson's whodunits look like masterpieces (they aren't). In the following paragraphs I'll explain why this trainwreck doesn't deserve my recommendation. I'll start with... what is art direction? A genuine question for any visual novel developer, but it seems that the devs for this game didn't even bother to ask that question. They were probably thinking "let's make it all pink for wow factor and be done with it", and that's why all looks so unrealistic, like the story is set in some Barbie movie. It's too cartoonish to fit with a murder mystery story, but I'll discuss this in more detail in the writing assessment. Regarding UI, there is no backlog, and there is no button for autoplay, skip in the quick menu at the bottom of the textbox, which are standard features for visual novels.
