Best Friend Forever

Best Friend Forever is a cute game, but I don't think it offers enough to justify its full price. If you can grab it for around $10, I don't think you'll be disappointed with what you get. The problem is that it falls short of what it's trying to do. The dating aspect is decent because the characters themselves are interesting and likeable, but the relationships feel a little rushed. On the pet side of things, I was honestly disappointed that the NPCs' dogs looked better than most of the dogs I could actually adopt. There's also basically no customization, which feels like a huge missed opportunity for a game built around dating and raising a dog. Overall, it's charming enough to be enjoyable, but it never fully reaches its potential.

20 minutes of this game and it was wasted. LGBT+ positive in the worst type of way. Diverse doesn't mean good. Bad writing that bored me and made me cringe in the first 10 minutes, bad character writing that made me cringe in the last 10.

This game feels like a Demo for a much better game. Character creation was lacking enough that I expected CGs, but there are none. Planning weekly activities with our dogs and having their care minigame was fun, but felt superficial. The writing felt like there was supposed to be way deeper lore, but never dives into it in a meaningful way. The characters had unique designs, personalities and dynamics, but the game's too short to explore them. And the bugs... So many bugs. I really, REALLY wanted to like this game. I played every story and took every option. It's been six years since its release, so there's no hope for improvement. Which is a shame, because it's a game that's worth revisiting and improving. All in all, if you get it on sale, I do believe it's a game worth playing, even if it isn't all it could've been.

The cast is a mix of lovable personalities and pricklier ones, which gives the dating side some texture. Some characters are instantly endearing; others take a little warming up. I tried it out by curiousity and I think it's a nice game. It is a bit lacking in terms of personnalisation, like for the characters, and I think some points should have been more developped, but the story is good and fun to discover. I finished the romance with Anders, it was nice but still lacking a little bit of something from my point of view.
