Beyond the Invisible: Evening

[h1] 👀A GREAT OLD-SCHOOL GAME YOU MAY HAVE OVERLOOKED👀[/h1] Try to look "Beyond" the fact that this is an older game with older graphics, and you will discover a game reminiscent of a time when HOPAs weren't cookie-cutter games. One of the features I miss the most in games nowadays is the ability to roam freely. They limit us to 2-3 scenes at a time by locking the previous scenes. When there are only a few scenes to explore, it's nearly impossible to get stumped. How many times have you found an inventory item and used that item within the same scene? This is not the case in Beyond The Invisible: Evening, and one of the biggest reasons  I love this game!  THE STORY: The small town of Woodville suddenly became shrouded in darkness, and the townspeople began systematically disappearing. As evening sets in, the Shadows emerge, searching for any remaining victims. As the town falls into despair, two orphans embark on a journey of survival into the Evening darkness...and Beyond the Invisible. Yes, I recommend it. I played it on Windows 11 with no problems. This is a good HOPA, too bad they didn't make more of them. Only 1 small issue - I had trouble seeing some objects in the HOPs. I need more precise drawings to see well and less water colors. The brown & white cut scenes that advanced the story were really interesting. The artwork in general was lovely. The music and ambient sounds were perfect. Nice journal, useful map & help feature. I was never stuck because these features worked well.

Madly random - to get through the game, you'll end up repeatedly picking up a somewhat arbitrary object, clicking the map, finding a random point on the screen, and repeating this process ad nauseum. Often, the points at which you need to use your inventory are at totally opposite ends of the map, meaning you'll rely on following exclamation marks on the map rather than relying on your memory to figure out logical connections. Not the best example of the genre.

Love the storybook animation, good puzzles and creepy vibes.

Beyond The Invisible: Evening is a routine hidden object casual puzzle/adventure game with a historical/fantasy/mystery theme. Solving various puzzles and hidden object minigames reveals the plot and uncovers the mystery. There's nothing wrong the the concept here but the implementation is terrible. 4:3 stretched aspect ratio, fixed resolution all make this far beneath minimum standard for a 2017 game, let alone today. Also, if you alt+tab, the game crashes. Charging $10 USD for a game this badly implemented is just unacceptable.
