BiT Evolution is a weird and somewhat unusual game to recommend. It’s extremely bland to the point of being super boring. I managed to make things interesting by collecting every single pixel in all levels, but even that failed to entertain me as I had expected; therefore, I wouldn’t exactly call this an entirely negative review, but a mixed one with negative sides outweighing the positive ones. The game starts in an Atari setting, then moves onto the Game Boy aesthetics. These two worlds are not bad, but the game starts getting repetitive by the time you make it to the NES world, and it plummets into the ground in the SNES one. The main gimmick is not dying upon getting hit, but being transferred to another world called “Realm of Code”, where you can explore a parallel version of the level you’re playing until you find a portal that can take you back. Are you having difficulties with the regular version of the stage? Then die and try your luck in the alternate one. Kinda a neat idea, but it gets old really fast due to its poor implementation. You don’t exactly get new mechanics and abilities until the NES world, and that happens after 24 levels! As if it’s not enough, NES and S…

It's okay. The first boss fight is bugged though and I cannot get past it.

This game made with twig and bones, gone deaf while playing it and for some reason GAME OUNISHES YOU IF YOU PLAY "TOO PERFECT." ignore the playtime, for some reason they make it so that alt+F4 only minimizes the game, not close it. That's scummy too.
Platformer with Unique Twist
BiT Evolution is a platformer which is basically divided into four games. Each game is quite similar in premise, collecting pixels (coins) in the levels, whilst avoiding enemies, just evolving in graphics, with new enemies and environments with each new game. Though, if you do die, you get sent to the RoC (Realm of Code), which is like a B-side of the world, with different, yet similar world generation, but various other threats. The only way to get back to the overworld is through portals scattered in the RoC, which will send you back to the area where the portal would be in the overworld. If you die in the RoC you just get sent back to a checkpoint in the overworld, so you pretty much can't actually "die" There are 20 pixels to collect in each level, with 12 levels each in the first two games, and 18 levels each in the last two. The music is pretty enjoyable too, very retro and very nostalgic, it definitely feels 70s, 80s and 90s. Overall, it's pretty decent IMO, but I do think that each game should've been a different genre, and maybe not just stuck to the same formula, just with graphical improvements and new powerups. Maybe also…
