About BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend

✦ AI summary

Master fast-paced 2D fighting across an expanded roster including puppet-master Relius Clover, with thoroughly rebalanced combat, new story scenarios, and challenging modes like Unlimited Mars and Abyss. BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend solidifies the franchise's legacy with deeper mechanics, enhanced visuals, and compelling narrative branches that deepen the series' acclaimed lore.

The second entry in the critically acclaimed BlazBlue franchise, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend adds a number of game play modes, story scenarios, new moves, and an all-new playable character to further enhance the BlazBlue experience and solidify its status as one of the all-time great 2D fighters.

Story
Several years after the end of the Second War, multiple branches of the Librarium reputed to command a force as powerful as an entire nation’s army were suddenly and utterly destroyed. Inexplicably, the hidden cauldrons within each branch were also completely decimated. The few survivors spoke in hushed, shaken tones of a single man who had
appeared out of nowhere, cutting down all in his path.

Main Game Features
  • Expanded Character Roster: In addition to the downloadable characters offered for the previous entry in the series (Makoto, Valkenhyn, and Platinum the Trinity), EXTEND introduces Relius Clover, the mad puppeteer and Carl's father, as a playable character. Master a whole new way of fighting with Relius as he uses his marionette, Ignis, to turn the tide of battle.
  • Enhanced Story Mode: Relive and rediscover the events that took place in BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger or venture forth into one of four all new story scenarios!
  • New and Revised Game Modes: Take on the strongest of foes in Unlimited Mars Mode or fight your way to the bottom of Abyss Mode!
  • Fully Revised Combat System: All characters, new and old, have been thoroughly rebalanced and armed with all new strategies and combos to take your game to the top!

I played BBCS mainly for the story, so this small review will focus on that. I liked it, BB's story and lore are pretty interesting. But god I hate how unlocking character routes works here. Because of this I just decided to watch the rest of the story on youtube, since I don't want to clear every character story multiple times without noticeable changes. But overall BBCS is great and I really like this game

Continuum Shift vastly expands and improves upon the story of Calamity Trigger. Better and expanded story and more characters! Pros - Improved Storytelling: Previously it was various loops, but now everything is more coherent and vowen together nicely. There's also now more characters to play and seeing their backstories really gives more depth to everyone, this game is really where the story starts to take off! - Better Story progression: You no more do you need to lose or perform an Distortion Drive Finish to get all various endings. It's moreso now just picking different options which is great! Cons - FPS Issue: While nowhere near as terrible as Calamity Trigger, if you happen to Alt+Tab the game will start to have messed up FPS. Just restarting the game fixes this, so it's not a big deal, just don't Alt+Tab and you'll be fine! - No 1440p: It's interesting how Calamity Trigger had 2560x1600, yet this game has only 1920x1080. Which sadly results in blurry/pixelated visuals - "Freely "English Translation: They really take their freedom with translation in this game. Many times there's way more text than what the speaker actually is saying or flat out isn't actually what…

Bad broken and buggy PC port, with cut-off speech, random frame drops and a ton of graphical glitches. Achievements are broken as well. Don't bother with this one until they fix it.
