Bombabomb!

Game recently went free-to-play, it's a fun and simple puzzle game, on par with something you'd see on a mobile device appstore or pre-installed on classic Windows operating systems. Thankfully, the micro-transactions are purely for donations and aren't predatory, which is a huge plus and I respect that move a lot! Definitely worth playing if you want to kill a few minutes periodically and don't have the motivation to play longer more fleshed out games.

Bombabomb! is about as simple as a game can get, but I actually think that is part of the reason I like it. I am given a board full of coloured bombs and I have to click groups of matching bombs that are next to each other so they all explode. The goal is not just to clear some of the board either. I am supposed to get rid of every single bomb. That gives a very basic matching game a little bit more thought because one bad click can leave me with awkward groups that I cannot clear later. The puzzle itself is easy to understand within a few seconds. I look at the board, find matching colours and try to work out which group is best to remove first. I quickly realised that clicking the biggest group straight away is not always the right answer. I need to think about how the remaining bombs will sit after each move and try not to leave single bombs or small groups stranded. That is where most of the challenge comes from, and I like that the game does not need loads of complicated rules to make me think.
