Boo's Balloons

Cute game with excellent visuals

"Boo's Balloons" is a family friendly arcade action game with hand draw/watercolour artwork. What do you do in the game? Fly a hot air balloon and collect smaller balloons. That's it really... the developer claims this is intended to help train childrens motor skills, but any game will let them do that. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. Not every "f…

"For younger children to enjoy as they develop their motor skills." I guess I should've read the description before adding this to my library, but it's too late, and now I've 100% completed the game in less time than it took me to write this review. Not sure how young the target audience is..when I was 6 I was playing Myst. Might be good for ages 2 - 3? Might be better as a book? I'm not recommending the game because toward the end as I listened to the poem, I felt a deeply unsettling feeling and felt like something terrible had happened to the cat. That probably says a lot about my mental state and past trauma more than it says anything about the game, but regardless, for me this is a horror game.

Несмотря на кажущуюся простоту, игра требует внимательности и быстрой реакции. Она отлично подходит для того, чтобы расслабиться после долгого дня или скоротать время в дороге. 'Boo's Balloons' — это тот редкий случай, когда игра дарит исключительно положительные эмоции и оставляет приятное послевкусие. Я бы точно рекомендовал ее всем любителям казуальных, но при этом увлекательных игр.

So the controls, once you no longer add air to balloon, you will drift downwards, and be unable to move left or right until you get more fire for your balloon. Thisis a easy mechanic to get around it was just interesting. Maybe could be changed. But I tap fire a bunch rapidly to choose a side to fall towards or move aorund. Also. When I click to goto menu it makes the text restart and brings me back to the pause menu I was on in the level. Just a thing that could change or a interesting ui mechanic.
