BookStore Simulator (2026)

I do not recommend this game, as affordable of a gamble as it might be. I saw the mixed reviews, the decent trailer, and the low price and thought I'd give it a shot. If it didn't work well, it was only a few bucks. It doesn't work...at all. It will load up the main menu, but when trying to start a new game, it crashes, fatal error message and all. I retried a few times, thinking it was something about the graphics vs. my computer, but no, it seems to be an issue with the game itself.

Unlike other games in the genre, you're locked into very specific placement for things which means I can't control maximizing my space. Feels like the design mode could be way less restrictive than they lock us into. It's also nitpicky, but the keys for inventory etc only open the functionality, not close it, which is annoying. With the oversaturation of the genre, even the promise of some magic doesn't entice me to continue.

Game has great potential, While there are some things that need to be worked through, the dev is active on the discussion boards and has been addressing the issues brought up. Relaxing game. It does require some patience at the beginning but it's nice to see things grow. The "magic" customers are attention getting with unique features. Item placement is simple as is the concept of the game, buy shelves, stock them with books and set your prices. Open the store and rake in the cash. Addictive game overall, kept me engaged, will definitely revisit this and start a new game at a later date. Overall I will give this a 7/10 in its current state but believe this has great promise. Just a video memory error nonstop even though I have more than enough space in everything as specified. I'm guessing I dodged a bullet judging by the other reviews because if I was actually able to open the game and saw AI, I would be more upset than I already am. FIX YOUR GAME, DEVS.

What I liked: - The premise is pretty nifty. There are so many store-sim games, but add magic... yes, please! - The preview video is very accurate, so I knew what to expect for graphics quality and gameplay elements - The customers are like real life (this is both a like and dislike, as one customer in a bad mood can ruin your day's whole average) What I didn't like: - No in-game tutorial (yes, you can browse the menu for tutorial, but at lest have a HUD that says what the first couple steps are to get started) You also randomly walk near things that open a pop-up info window, but it's not a very intuitive or positive way to start a new game/experience. - You start in a room with NO hints about what to do or where to go. I wasted 15 minutes figuring out I was in an apartment building and had to wander around outside until I saw a twinkle showing the actual store location. (This could be solved with dislike #1) - Cash register? No... Use your computer to open an 'orders' program and process sales... no cash, no cards, no sense of "cha-ching, I made a sale" - OMG WHY CANT I RUN?? - Defensive dev comments: "You're doing it wrong or are too stupid to figure out what I was thinking w…

It's a good game. Doesn't play quite like most other simulators I have played, but that's not a bad thing. It may take a bit to get things going, but once things really get moving it is pretty enjoyable. The main difference is this is the first time I ever had to buy ads before I even opened. I tried without it and got almost no customers, but with 2 days of the lowest type of ad I got a decent amount of customers, and started progressing fast. I was not so sure about this game at first, but after a couple failed attempts (and some advice from the dev) I got it going right. Definitely one in my good books.
