Bot Vice

A fantastic game that fans of games like Cabal, Blood Brothers and Wild Guns will love! This is such a great genre and we definitely need more gallery shooters! The art style in Bot Vice is superb, with a great soundtrack, great controls and some nice weapon upgrades! Recommended to fans of the genre, and to those that want a fun, arcade style challenge!

I really like this game! It's a great mix of great pixel graphics and fun and simple game play. It's the kind of game I would love to have in VR, but I don't think it would work because it would be too disorienting. It's a fun overhead cover shooter. I don't know another game that is quite like it. You are literally in a rectangular stage where you can free roam in a line at the bottom of the screen and the enemies are at the top. It sort of reminds me of a space shooter. It basically uses many concepts of an overhead space shooter, but the enemies don't move in a flying motion. They move in either circular motion to throw off your aim, or other random directions which is much different from any space shooter. It's like an evolution of the genre. I really like it. You really need to master it's mechanics of targeting, moving under cover, rolling out of attacks, parrying attacks, and knowing when to deploy which weapons. So many more play options to consider, and it gets chaotic if you concentrate on the wrong enemy. I really felt like this game was challenging but not too difficult. This is the kind of mystery game that would been in an arcade room at a dining establishment that you would have paused a glimpse but your parents wouldn't let you play the game because it was either A) Too violence or B) 50¢ a play and "we're not made out of money!"

cringy af dialogue and story gameplay is aight, has extra hard levels if you liked it enough.

This is the absolute definition of a HIDDEN GEM!!! On top of it being a game with Dominic Ninmark behind the soundtrack (we simp for him), this game's such a unique take on the arcade top-down shooter genre by bringing in a cover-shooter action style of gameplay that, despite what it may seem to be, is fast-paced, action-packed, and BRUTAL. Seriously, by stage 2, you gotta start honing in on those mechanics 'cuz if you're not able to do so, you're gonna be dying A LOT in every stage. Once you get the full grasp of it, it feels amazing to cover behind large amount s of bullets on-screen and dodge whenever you can while getting your shots in. Seriously, I can't recommend this enough!!! It's like any game Dominic Ninmark composes for, it turns out to be ACTUAL GOLD.

I've had this game for a decade and never beat it until now. Suddenly felt compelled to play it again. Getting the negative out of the way because there's not much. I don't like the VA. I don't mean to be harsh to a small studio, obviously you're not going to be able to hire some professional or theater student and I'm not even asking for better. It's just I'd like the option to turn it off. It somewhat hurt the presentation of a lot of encounters especially the Lunatic fight. ANYWAY This game was always fantastic and of the 3 DYA titles I played, it's my favorite. It reminds me of the joy I would get from Natsume games as a kid like Wild Guns and Pocky & Rocky. It's great console action. Everything you have at your disposal is so perfectly balanced and the pacing is perfect. 24 levels sounds like a lot, but considering they can all be beaten in under 2 minutes while still being full stage gauntlets, it doesn't take long to beat which is a big positive. The graphics are something I always love about DYA. These saturated, crispy, chunky pixels with simple and clear animations are so satisfying and fun to look at.
