About Brain Damage

Brain Damage, a chaotic 2D action roguelite space adventure where power comes at a cost! As you obliterate wave after wave of relentless enemies, your upgrades not only boost your abilities, but also crank up the "brain damage"—increasing particles, font sizes, and camera shake!

Dive into an endless torrent of cosmic baddies, each more menacing than the last, and test your skills as the game becomes increasingly difficult to see. In this wild space ride, the more powerful you get, the harder it is to make sense of the mayhem on your screen.

But don't let the chaos deter you! After conquering each wave, you'll have the chance to upgrade your arsenal and abilities. Choose wisely, as every upgrade comes with a side of extra "brain damage."

So, buckle up for a space adventure that's equal parts thrilling, hilarious, and downright insane. Are you ready to embrace the chaos?

Features:
  • Fast-paced 2D action roguelite gameplay
  • Wave-based combat with challenging enemies
  • Rewarding yet risky upgrade system
  • Mind-bending visual effects that escalate with each power-up

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate that the developer is responsive to feedback, particularly the addition of ship rotation and an easier difficulty mode, which significantly improved the experience for many. However, the game remains extremely challenging and causes frustration for some players, with complaints about punishing difficulty spikes, overwhelming enemy spawns, and the original "brain damage" mode feeling overly restrictive without proper ship control. While the core gameplay loop of upgrading weapons and surviving waves shows promise, some feel the game needs better balance, more variety in upgra

**** UPDATE: April 16, 2023 **** This new indie developer on Steam ACTUALLY LISTENED! ..Hallelujah!! https://youtu.be/UfGnHGpOlLQ He calls a brand new mode a "Easy" mode.. but hey, at least we can ROTATE our damn ship now! Woot! Woot! ..I like they he made my suggestion a new mode, and also that my suggestion is now the DEFAULT mode. I really like that he has an OPTION to play his original vision for his game, even if it feels cumbersome to me without being able to rotate your ship! ..It seems that he does have the ability to purchase the ability to rotate his his original "Brain Damage" mode that I gave him, a negative review on. Regardless, he's done enough to warrant me changing my review from a negative to a positive and a RECOMMENDED. This is a well done first indie game for just 99 cents! ..And more importantly, I LOVE that we have an indie developer here who can listen to feedback and take criticism on the chin and use it to make his game better! ..That's HUGE! Well done dev. A well deserved RECOMMENDED from me! Keep up the great work! -------------------------------------------------- **** Original Review: April 6, 2023 **** The game definitely do…

<EDIT 25TH APRIL> I love how you can now move your ship and rotate it to shoot the shapes easier. how ever I would argue that It is "20% easier" keeping in mind I have almost 3 hours in the game and I can not pass level 5 where as before I could at least reach level 7 because more shapes spawn in than before and seem a LOT faster maybe to make up for the rotation of the ship?? I really liked playing this game and purchasing different upgrades for your cannon like the fire rate or having an additional cannon, I played this for an hour earlier today and earned 3 achievements, and I came to the game a few hours later and got the exact same achievements. I didn't even know you could earn the same achievement twice after wave 5 to 6 the red arrows seem to spawn in large numbers and will just kill you in seconds and It's back to wave one. In my personal opinion I would like to be able to control the cannon and I mean by rotating it so I can carry on shooting the triangles and squares rather than just having to look in one direction and hoping the triangles walk into the bullets Without the ability to rotate your ship and the bullets don't rotate it makes it very hard to get past wav…

i expected a asteroids like rogue like and i got a game that is akin to asteroids but if i got a lobotomy and couldn't turn my neck. It's a cruel game and honestly incredibly hard on brain damaged mode, but i figure its meant to be like that. I would love to see the game get more upgrades and more modes. me every time the lobotomy. Though something that i think could be interesting is making some type of pro and con to having more brain damage, unless there already is and im just unaware. Its also incredibly easy to keep your brain damage down to a minimum so if having brain damage gave you some type of advantage while having a disadvantage it would entice a risk and rewards type play style where players will want to get a lot of brain damage but also have a lot of negatives related to it. I think the way the game is now is fantastic and challenge and it has a lot of potential.

How to Play: Step 1: Red Triangles come from above in increasing quantities until you die. Step 2: Refund the game.
