Horizontal layout aside, even after dialing in the sensitivity, control of the bat-to-ball feels too slippery to reliably and precisely direct the ball where you want. Neon aesthetic / flashing effects looks great, but also make it harder to track the ball. CRT/filter effects can't be turned off. Some challenging and enjoyable levels - 72 on offer in Voyage mode took me around 4-5hrs to complete. Despite some frustrations and my brain never really adjusting sideways it was still a fun play through, and a refreshing take on the genre.[/i] ✔️ Timers, constantly progressing play fields, and high speed can make this a respectable challenge. ✔️ Power-ups (once unlocked) offer various tactical advantages to breakout and maximise scores. ✔️ Modern but Classic; the visuals are beautiful, complemented by solid retro sound effects. ✔️ Easter Egg - 1976 mode ツ ❌ Bat acceleration/sensitivity feels off - very hard to precisely angle the ball. ❌ Limited replayability - not many modes or other challenges once clocked. ❌ Colour selections along with the neon-tastic effects make it hard to track ball …

having played quite a few free breakout games (because i love breakout) im pleased to have paid £6 for this. its very smooth. runs and looks really good and is definitely better than any of the free ones out there.

A fantastic take on the arcade classic Breakout. The music and sound design, really elevated the experience from being just another block breaker. The game also pairs a cool visual style and some fun Arkanoid-like power ups, to keep things engaging. If you're a fan of early arcade games, you should consider picking this one up. Also yes I'm aware of the Amico. Tommy's mother should be very proud, that one good thing came out of that.

loved the original. loved breakout RECHARGED. Breakout Beyond, however, might have surpassed its predecessors in both aesthetic and execution. fantastically fun and easily accessible for a new generation. fans of the original and recharged will be pleased to find an entirely new game comprised of elements from both the original and the more recently released breakout recharged as well as enough new game mechanics to keep things interesting for those of us who have played the predecessors. nevertheless, enough of the original DNA remains that diehard fans of the original will not be alienated from the experience.
