Brimstone Manor

I enjoy this game, but I'd rather recommend getting it on sale. It's relatively short - or at least, it feels like that; it's not about the wordcount here. Overall, I like the setting and the characters (well, most of them), but I wish it was a bit of a slower burn when it comes to relationships. Now, obviously, this is a Heart's Choice game, which means it's mostly focused on romance as opposed to classic Choice of Games or even Hosted Games, but some of them are still paced slower which tends to be my preference. Basically, I'd give it a 6/10 or something around that. A bit better than middleground, but I've played better games too. There is just one thing that I want to warn you about, because I consider it's a weird narrative choice. Or well, maybe not narrative, but a choice pertaining to stats. It's spoilery since I have to explain the situation, but it may very well help you to avoid restarting the game because of a weirdly constructed stat check. For what this game was and how much it cost, I think it was perfectly fine and enjoyable. I really loved Nicki and Lucifer. They were definitely the best parts. The romance boiled down to "do you like blond or brunette?" And if the answer was "no", than the game say, "well, how about Jimmy Olsen or Gabby?" Which, I will say those two did have some personality. Not good ones, but they had something. Despite saying that, the romance was fine, I've seen worse on booktok. The only thing that I hated was that we never find out what actually happened to Nicki's mother. She died, somehow, and the two main guys blamed themselves, for some reason. And now I feel like i'm in the Rebecca novel where the dead wife is hanging over me and I have no way of learning about her. Besides, that it was fine.

Played for the idea of angels and demons, stayed for the wholesome story line and taking care of the kid!

I think some of the reviews are definitely under-selling this IF. It has a really good story, loveable LI's, and some pretty good side characters too. While the story premise is something that I personally love, it does feel very rushed. There are particular characters who deserve more depth, mainly [spoiler] Nicki's mother. Darien, Michael and Nicki experienced a huge loss when she passed, and us as the MC knew nothing about what she was like. My first playthrough I romanced Darien, and decided to play neutral to the end, and during the final confrontation the MC said 'Nicki's mother wouldnt have wanted this' even though we knew nothing about her.[/spoiler] As I said already, some things definitely needed...just more, to feel complete as a reader. I'm not entirely sure if the book was 100% worth paying for, as it was very short, however I loved the story premise and romancing a demon <3
