What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise the game's charming art style and thoughtful soundtrack, along with its spot-the-difference gameplay that offers a genuine challenge beyond typical casual puzzle games. However, many note that the difficulty is quite demanding—some differences are extremely subtle or pixel-sized, making the game feel tedious rather than enjoyable, especially later levels, and the five secret achievements are considered exceptionally obscure; the game requires considerable patience and often necessitates using hints, which undermines the dopamine hit players typically seek from these games.
4 found this helpful
Broken Lens is a really unique "find the differences" game with actual story telling and hidden puzzles to discover secrets. Each level has a special item that can be found in addition to the differences, which contributes book pages to slowly reveal the secrets. The music is stunningly relaxing and the art style felt well tailored for the topics explored. Adding a slight touch of eerie and emotions. Things were quite fun in the beginning, but near midway through the game, finding the differences became increasingly difficult, to the point we needed to use hints multiple times on every level. What was the most frustrating was not being able to find the items even with the hint circle active. Many times I found myself clicking in random places hoping to find something, and that very quickly took the game from unique to really-not-fun. In addition, moving the camera frequently caused stutter or lag. Overall, Broken Lens presents a really good concept. But since it quickly turned into a blind-clicking headache, it is not a game i would recommend to my friends. The community guides were helpful for unlocking the secrets and their corresponding hidden achievements.2 found this helpful
A very cute game with unique mechanics. I can not recommend this on the basis that it crashes my entire PC every other boot-up. I've played it for 5 hours but a decent chunk of that was being stuck trying to close it while it drops my entire computer to 0.3fps (this is accurate, 1 frame every 3 seconds) until I manually turn off my PC. If this worked well with my system its a great game that is engaging and challenging, but BG3 crashed less than this. I'm outside of my window to refund; I would if I could. It is borderline unplayable.
Got this on sale and thought it was a cute spot the difference game. It was exactly that however there was a story to the game that made it clearly much sadder than expected. Whilst at it's base is spotting the difference between images it's not a simple game. Sometimes the difference are very slight. Highly recommend you take breaks when you play this because staring at the pictures can be tiring to find the differences. Issues I had with the game sometimes a click didn't quite register. It's not major as there is not tracker or score related to clicks. Another issue is the hint button is in the middle at the bottom of the screen. You could accidentally hit that if you're trying to click on a difference you see. Just have to be careful around the button. There was one major bug where an optional extra was felt like it was bugged Chapter 2 level 4. I had to find a Youtube video to find it and then It was done by accident. I did enjoy finding the differences but, also the deeper puzzles related to the story within the journal pages you find. For those who enjoy decoding a foreign language this game is for you. Figuring out that puzzle was difficult and fun. It's worth playing i…
Kind of hoped there would be more to this game but nah. The puzzles vacillate between boringly simplistic and so difficult that you're just pixel hunting for the tiniest details. There's no sweet spot in the middle where it's actually satisfying.
A lot of the plot for this game is imparted in French, and you cannot change that. The core gameplay, however, is spotting differences, which is all just visual, so you're good in any language. A lot of other reviewers complained that this game is too difficult - that some of the differences are hard to spot. I can kind of see what they mean, but you don't even need to find all the differences to progress to the next level - you only need to find absolutely everything if you want all the achievements. Which I did go for. It took a little while, but not that long. The game also has a hint system - as many as you like, on a timer, with no penalty. It shows a circle around the general sub-region where a random remaining difference is at - you still have to find the thing. I enjoyed it. But this is definitely a game where you won't have a good time if you don't like scanning two side-by-side versions of a cartoon image, looking for minor differences. Because this is a spot the difference game. Sorry if that sounds sarcastic. I'm just trying to explain why I recommend this game, and that is what I came up with.
