About Budget Cuts

✦ AI summary

Sneak through a dystopian corporate office using your teleportation gun to outwit deadly robots, relying on stealth, throwing knives, and creative use of cover in this VR-exclusive experience. Budget Cuts delivers visceral, immersive VR gameplay that proves the medium's potential with tight mechanics and thrilling combat encounters.

You are an employee at the mega conglomerate TransCorp, and it's your job to stamp papers and file files! Unfortunately for you, TransCorp is an expert in the business of manufacturing cost-cutting robots, and now you are about to be fired.

Built for Virtual Reality from the ground up, Budget Cuts is a stealth game set in a dystopian office-scape with tons of evil robots and even more knives (for throwing and stabbing them with!) Use your TransLocator gun to teleport through the many departments of TransCorp. Sneak around corners, hide behind air vents, or go nuts with lots of robot-killing action!

Budget Cuts Arcade (accessed through the arcade machine in the main menu room) is a free update that now comes with the base game automatically, and adds four new bonus levels to the game, new difficulty levels, as well as a new Arcade Game Mode with high scores for the best runs! Full patch notes are available on our steam newshub.

VR games are a dying species so I wont criticise it too hard, but budget cuts is definitely showing its age. Its still fine, it still functions and for VR that’s really all you can ask for I suppose. At the very least its a interesting game mechanically and if under the right conditions can be exceptionally enjoyable. It's just a shame it has some iffy compatibility and accessibility issues and being long abandoned I doubt we will see them resolved.

Positive: it is short for what it offers and what it offers was made pertty well. Also a good "VR Legs" style of a game. But after having played a lot of VR games since testing this out in 2018(?) when I tested VR with original Vive, this is not it for me anymore. I had fond memories of playing one level and liking the teleporter ball concept and the stealth. I still do and I still liked the teleporter gun, but overall I was left dissappinted playing this almost a decade since it came out. Story was serviceable, but biggest negatives came from very repetitious levels and design, useless interactable objects, funky throwing, soft locking bugs (some that made the end boss stuck in a wall and made the end level easy, yay) and overall very "1st game by a team"-sort of a game. And they did very well, just not up to today's standards and too many annoyances. I am extremely mixed on this. But overall, as I just wanted the game to end even before the 2 last missions, i have to give this a negative rating.

a fun and engaging corporate espionage spy game with decent puzzles, stealth and combat. the aesthetics are on-point and overall i would recommend this game to anyone with a VR headset.

A fun game which utilizes VR mechanics well. now there are a few places were finding out what to do is difficult or the game is exsessivly hard, but the game is great regardless. hiding under desks is scary and fun in VR, hitting an enemy is difficult and rewarding. it does a good job at keeping you one your toes, and kept my heart racing.

Graphics were good. Gameplay is fun. Occlusion/culling of objects is off at times. No real complaints.
