BUTCHER is a fast spaced 2D side scrolling shooter which feels like DOOM but in 2D. Let me tell you, this game is NOT easy, normal mode is hard mode but luckily they have a DLC to play the game in easy mode if you just want a casual playthrough (which I wanted). The game is not super long, and can be played through in about 1.5 hours on easy mode, otherwise you will be in for a lot of trial and error (similar to Hotline Miami).6 found this helpful
The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world after a great war. Players don't take on the role of a hero trying to save humanity, but rather a cyborg on the side of the machine, determined to destroy it. Despite its release in 2016, the game perfectly captures the atmosphere of '90s games. I played on the hard difficulty setting and at times felt like giving up, but I persevered and don't regret it. Because the base game doesn't have an easy difficulty setting, you can feel the difficulty of games released on PlayStation PSP. The game itself isn't very long, doesn't have many missions, but it does include collectibles in the form of skulls. I think the price is fair for the content; you can always wait for a sale. I recommend this game to people who enjoy a challenge and this type of gameplay atmosphere.1 found this helpful

Very difficult, and very fun
Solid pixel art indie game with fast, visceral combat. Not my favorite game, but I had fun during the 2 hours it took to complete.
Really is like a 2D (Brutal) Doom game! Very responsive controls and gunplay and gritty environment and sound design, Great fun!
