Your Big, Cute Monster Farm

A great incremental idler with some pacing issues. Big Cute Monster Farm follows the style of Rusty's Retirement, plant crops, watch them grow, harvest, unlock more, unlock buildings, rinse repeat with a chill relaxing pixel art style. The only complaint from this game is the grind, the 10,000 monster adopted achievement is so annoying and grindy, it could be lowered to 1000 and still be a challenge without being a pain, the game has some tedious parts to it when planting and re-sowing seeds and such but it's not too much of an issue, just can be annoying when you have 150 farm plots and have to deal with all of them. Not a bad game for the price, but just be ready for the grind!

I had to refund this game for one simple reason It runs my CPU as big as some of my bigger games like Palworld or Windrose A small lil idle game should not be running its processing speed at the speed of larger games with big open worlds And looking through the reviews it looks like it starts lagging out the more you expand and add to it? Yeah no, I cant be doing that and attempting to use my computer at the same time I got as far as unlocking the hatchery and getting 4 critters, and honestly I really enjoy the concept of the game, I really liked the ability to see new lil critters and hatch new ones, etc But the optimization killed it for me sadly and I do have a higher end gaming laptop, so its not like I'm running it on a potato If the devs figure out how to optimize the game I may repurchase, but for now, I cannot play this game knowing it will eventually lag me out so bad I cant even use an art program to draw later down the line

I like it a lot and it's not a bad game but it does have some issues here and there. The major thing is progression is extremely slow, even for an idle game. You will be waiting for hours to add a new plot of land or building or upgrade. Its hard to fuse to make better monsters because of how much money you need and gems to even get new ones. Its hard to redo anything with your farm because of the money investment. Everything is automated but you make such little money vs time investment that it draws out gameplay to an unnatural degree. Another issue I have is the monster special abilities you can get are worthless. they're such a small benefit like 1% extra chance for a mutated plant or 10% view distance. This amounts to nothing in the long run. There also isn't really a large roster of creatures to choose from. Each one is basically the same as the others with only marginal benefits. The all-arounders are useless unless they get a good ability and even then there really isn't any good abilities. You're much better off just having one of each of the specialists. I picked this game up expecting a simple idle farming experience, and it turned out to be much more charming than I anticipated. The pixel art is adorable, the monsters are full of personality, and it's incredibly relaxing to watch your little farm grow while you're working or doing something else. I really enjoyed unlocking new monsters, experimenting with farm layouts, and discovering crop mutations. The progression feels rewarding without being stressful, making it the perfect cozy companion game. It's easy to leave running in the background, yet there's always something to check on when you come back. My only real complaint is that I'd love to see even more monsters to unlock in future updates. I also think a multiplayer feature could be a lot of fun—being able to visit friends' farms, trade monsters or items, and interact with other players would add even more replayability.
