I decided to check this game out after playing the spiritual successor "Trans Theft Horso" and I wasn't disappointed. It has a similar vibe. A charming main character A strange world full of quirky characters that was fun to explore. A silly surreal story with plenty of humor but also some poignant moments. Overall Its really enjoyable and I can't understand why its free.

RPG Maker strikes again! "Buy Hyacinths" is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. Notably, the "developer" couldn't work out how to use RPG Maker to make a JRPG (the only thing it can do, and it's terrible at it). Instead, we have a godawfully badly written fan-fiction about the authors imaginary... oh wait. Unlike most RPG Maker asset flips on Steam, which are about the developers imaginary girlfriend (always a little anime girl), this one instead is about a sheep that goes to university. Regardless, this isn't a JRPG, the only thing RPG Maker can make, and it's terrible at it. It's a godawfully bad e-book with lightweight adventure/puzzle elements, all of which is assembled badly on top of the worst game engine to offend gamers in all of history. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly…

A short, free, sincere game about the decline of your university (literally and figuratively) and the rippling effects on your small community. It might not be everyone's cup of tea - the thrown-together quality and humour might not always be a hit - but there's definitely something deeper to experience here.

sheep boring 🥱

A pleasant little contemporary adventure as serious as it is humours. Raw in their artstyle but no less charming, the visuals are bright and colourful. There is clear effort behind them with how the characters sprites and portraits change through the years for example. The music fits the setting and the sound effects are a little goofy which is equally as fitting. Most of the gameplay consists of walking around and interacting with people and the environment. Additionally there are two mini-games where you manoeuvre through a maze to get something. Each maze has slightly different obstacles though they are equal in difficulty as well as short enough to not become frustrating even if they take a few tries to complete. A great emphasis is put on exploration to find everything the game has to offer, but it’s not required to see every little piece of dialogue to get to the end. There is some replay value with the few choices you can make, but this too is not inherently necessary as the overarching story beats stay largely the same.
