OKEY! Now I get it. This is the "start" to all things. Like a... Prequel. So basically... You get a(n) occult/mystical story right away. You are just thrown into it and there are no character backstories or anything like that. I really hope that the continuation has those... Unless the entire focus are those "cat people". Don't worry... THEY AREN'T CATS. I didn't not read this game in Russian and I didn't not switch to English because my Russian is superbly perfect beyond any reason of doubt. That aside, it's great in Russian and English... Is actually pretty damn accurate too. I mean... That's better than some other novels I came across. I mean... This isn't bad. The CGs look great. I just don't have much to go on... Except for the events that transpired. I did remember how how to Russian, so that's a bonus. So yes, it was interesting. Do I reccomend it? Well, not really. Do I NOT recommend it? Well, still, not really. Will I play the sequel? Yeah, probably, I love my silly little visual novels. It's a somewhat short, perfectly average VN. The artstyle is cozy (though the differences between the character sprites and the CGs are a bit funny) and I haven't noticed any audiobugs that the other reviews mentioned. Plot-wise it's... fine, I guess? There isn't a "canon" route in theory, but, in practice, it definitely feels like one specific route was written first and then all the other ones were added as an afterthought, so an already pretty short game wouldn't be even shorter. 6/10 (7/10, if you're drinking while playing)

I often find myself wishing Steam had a star system not just up or down, and this is one of those times. This game certainly doesnt deserve a thumbs down, but a thumbs up is missing a lot of the picture because Im not sure Id recommend it. Pros: the art, the art, the art. This game is simply gorgeous. The lore is interesting and dark without feeling like its trying too hard to shock you. I also really like the main character's no nonsense personality- they dont try make her a bland self insert. Cons: The story is too short. Ive seen many games execute a short run time well but Caball feels rushed not just brief. There are gaps in the story and threads introduced which are never fully explored and it doesn't land as mystery, it lands as forgetfulness. The writing doesn't just fall down in terms of plot continuity. There are moments in the prose which are very well done, but at other times it feels very clunky, almost to the point of being incoherent. Im fairly confident English isnt the publishing language and whom or whatever did the translation let them down. It would be one thing if it were just a translation issue/clarity issue, but the plot arc does fall very flat too. A…

Reading this as part of the Fall in Love VN Festival 2026. ✔️ Tested on Steam Deck, it works fine (01/09/2026). 'A' button to advance text and touchscreen for menu and choices. The character sprites are gorgeous and the CGs are genuinely stunning. You can tell a lot of love went into the art and honestly if the writing had received the same amount of care this could have been a great VN. My main issue with the writing is that some events that would feel traumatic don't seem to affect the characters as much as you'd expect. The main character's whole "no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" attitude is fun but sometimes her reactions feel a bit too indifferent. I also felt like some of the endings could've used a bit more context. That said, I don't want to be overly harsh about it. The story has a lot of potential and I'm definitely interested in reading the sequel.

Yummy characters, absolutely flawed personalities it's fantastic. This game deserves so much hype. The number of routes and the mystery surrounding all who come into contact with Caball. The creatures and their dangerous world, but you never really know who you can trust in the process. Each play through reveals something new about the characters while still staying true to each character's intentions. Delicious from start to glorious end. This game is such an amazing start for their incredible sequel, Caball Sunset Hour. I beg for merch and more fan art from the creators. Pretty please, you've given me a feast and I thirst for more.
