Caliban Below

"Caliban Below" is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this "art experience". Instead of being a game, "Caliban Below" is a software application that presents a poorly made art exhibition, a short VR tech demo, not a game, an advertisement for a product called "The Abbots Book", which you have to buy through DLC attached to this advertisement. It's bad when filmmakers push VR films as if they are games when they aren't. It's bad when any publisher abuses Steam by pushing non-free products and advertisements as games. This is a garbage tech demo of very low quality and very low content. We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever film school/art school dropouts are desperate for anyone to give them validation, so they publish their short film on Steam because nobody watches their garbage on Youtube. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. A nice little dark, atmospheric experience.

Very short, but it's free and a good example of early VR story telling, so I think it's worth playing.

Каждый шаг может привести к неожиданной встрече, а ресурсы всегда на вес золота. Тем, кто ищет хардкорный рогалик с неповторимой атмосферой, рекомендуется к ознакомлению. Единственный небольшой минус - недостаточная вариативность оружия, но это не критично и искупается другими элементами геймплея.
