Great fun! Traversal and puzzles were really cool. All three main sections are really distinct and last has lots of cool variety. The lemur was my fave encounter super spooky but Kanga was a close second. The sticky hand is the best thing, my only wish is there were more physics props to slap about.

First of all, big thanks to FuzzyLogicGames for providing me a free key for *Caretaker*! That said — this review is fully honest and my own opinion. If you’ve played *Wendigo*, you’ll instantly recognize the comic-style visuals with thick outlines and surreal colors — it looks amazing. The eerie soundtrack and ambient noises amplify the atmosphere perfectly, creating that uneasy “something’s watching me” feeling. Now, a few issues: – The “Swinging Area” is frustratingly tight on timing; I died 30+ times there. – Aiming with the rubber hand is clunky and inconsistent. – No autosaves, and manual saves give no feedback. – Missing subtitles on the phone calls make parts of the story hard to follow. – The Western Town section could use clearer direction — I wandered in circles forever. Still, these are all fixable problems. The pacing, the design, and especially the transitions from playful horror to darker tones work really well. **[For full context, I am a friend of one of the creators behind this game, and was given a key to play it for free.] This game delivers big for the price tag. The ambiance is great, and the overall atmosphere hits 'unsettling' right on the nose. From the beginning you're anxious, as the off-putting and just really odd vibe hits early. The unique tools take inspiration without being overly similar, like the sticky hand being similar to the grab-pack from Poppy Playtime. The other reviews spoil somewhat that this is a mascot horror game hidden under its unique summary, but I think that's fine. It delivers the information in a way that still deeply unsettles and scares you. Then again, I'm a bit of a weenie when it comes to these sorts of games. I believe that the game makes things scary without using jumpscares, which puts it a bit ahead of Five Nights at Freddy's in my book. Cheap jumpscares will get your heart racing, but that sort of horror is easy to adjust yourself to. Think of Markiplier for example, who plays those sorts of games all the time. I wish there was the option to leave a neutral review. It's a unique spin on the other games of this type (Poppy Playtime, Five Nights Security Breach, etc.), but it's just... not that scary. The puzzles and needing to time swinging around etc made it a LOT less scary. The viewmaster thing was really neat, but the rest of the game just needed some oomph in the scare department.
