About Chariots of War
Chariots of War is an operational real-time game where you can play one of 58 different nations on a huge historically accurate and beautiful map covering the entire Middle East! Build up your cities and keep their inhabitants happy by crating temples, entertainment and other building or deal with angry revolters. Control the Cradle of Civilization!
4000 years ago in the Cradle of Civilization, mighty Empires fought for water, resources and the arable land in the Fertile Crescent. Play as the Egyptians, the Babylonians, screaming Nubian warriors, or the Assyrians. Develop your county by producing commodities and selling them to you neighbors. Raise glorious armies and wage wars of conquest. Roll over the plains and seek victory in Chariots of War!
Immerse yourself in Chariots of War. Build hundreds of buildings and city improvements, and collect 9 different resources such as Myrrh, Gems and Horses. Put your General in command of your army fighting real-time battles under the fog of war. Protect the inhabitans from roving barbarian tribes bent on attacking anything in their path.
The Happiness and welfare of the inhabitants of your cities will depend on overpopulation, recruitment levels, garrisons and food, and by developing temples, entertainment and other buildings you keep revolution at bay. Recruit units from nearly thirty different troop types for you invincible armies. Barbarian tribes will roam the land, attacking anything they encounter. Trade allows you to buy and sell the 9 resources. Different areas of the map have access to different resources so trade is key. Diplomats can be sent out to gather information. You can eject enemy diplomats in a number of gory ways.

Partially I played it because of nostalgia, BUT this game has it's merits. It's easy to get into, turns can be pretty quick, doesn't suffer as much from turns becoming a long chore in late game as many turn-based strategies do, a pretty chill and fun game. Battles are fought automatically, you just set up your troops before. You can choose to start a short campaign on a smaller map or a much bigger one for a longer game. That said, I'm not sure how balanced I would consider this game, I actually think some troops are useless, but perhaps I didn't understand how to use them. For some mechanics (like which terrain counts as rough or what exactly happiness does) you should read the manual. But it is not exactly necessary to play if you want to just jump into the game and the manual is easy to read. Old games tend to rely on manuals for explaining details of the game, after all. I play it when I want a simple strategy game where I don't need to pay attention to a lot of things at once and plan ahead too much.2 found this helpful
This remains one of the best and most replayable strategy games ever. Easy to play but hard to master. I only wish that there were some new maps or some way to mod the game. I have played it countless hours.1 found this helpful
This game is Baby's first Grand Strategy there's not a ton of depth. However its simplicity is 100% why I love it. If someone wants to learn how to play Grand Strategies this is a great starting point1 found this helpful
A little bit costly, but relieve a lot of nostalgia with added content from the Legion (2002). Perfect game for resource management and strategist alike, this empire building also portray a very accurate historical map of the Near East from 24th century BCE, perfect for historical enthusiast.1 found this helpful
The troops are not moving as explained by Arkan...... I also purchased the game...
A game from my childhood however I can't recommend it to those who never played it since it's really outdated by modern standards by games like Imperator Rome or Total War titles and 15 euros for such an old and outdated game is too much. However it can be a relaxing experience and an immersion in the past if you've already experienced it or you're interested in bronze age history and civilizations.
