The puzzle element is tedious. I like Fantasy RPG, but I don't like to play puzzles.9 found this helpful
I'm particularly enjoying this game for the nostalgic feel and because it doesn't hold your hand with quest markers and point you in the direction you need to go. You have to figure that stuff out and EXPLORE. There's no world map (though I was told this is coming...which I'm almost a bit sad about, despite missing it sometimes lol), no automapping - just a little minimap around you (and only above ground - in dungeons you don't even get that!). For some, this may seem horrible, but it actually really affects the game design in a good way and forces you to learn about the world and explore it. It's far more immersive than modern games and honestly, a lot more fun. If you like old-school games that really feel like old-school and not just punishing grind-fests, you'll enjoy this game. Like all old games, it's tough for the first couple of levels, but then things balance out as you get enough to gear up a bit and it becomes much more fun. Try it and give it a chance - I suspect you'll enjoy it.8 found this helpful
Really nails the retro feel but with modern QOL features that make it a lot smoother experience than trying to replay some of the classics. Inventory management feels a bit clunky but nothing too terrible. Looking forward to seeing the final product.5 found this helpful
This game has a lot of potential, and I haven't seen anything comparable in a long time in terms of scope. There's a lot of work ahead, but as it stands right now, I strongly endorse buying this game to support the developer... this may be the gem a lot of people who love classic games with a modern spin are longing for.3 found this helpful
I was looking for a game in the style of might and magic when I found this gem of a game, for an early access game there is a lot of content already. Graphics are simple but solid and perfectly serviceable for this type of game, no clipping. fights are fun, quick and easy to learn. the story is fine, a ton of places to explore, quests to do, secrets to find and a real sense of accomplishment when you gain levels, its one of those games that you think ok, just another 10 mins and find yourself 4 hrs later still playing. I look forward to seeing how the game progresses.2 found this helpful
Chronicles of Vaeltaja is a big grid-based RPG with well balanced, turn-based combat, a tightly organized class system, and a surprisingly large scope. It's really well done and deserves more attention. Recommended!2 found this helpful
