There is something deeply cathartic about job sims. The idea of getting lost in something rote where your mind can wander while your hands stay busy is a pleasant one, and I always look forward to the next job sim on my list. I want to have these quiet moments, puttering through a city, with no obligations but those which I have imposed upon myself. The problem is, I pulled up City Bus Simulator 2024, the absolute madlad of driving job sims. After playing this game for a whopping 13 minutes, I have played enough to be able to decide. I was originally going to give this a full 2 hours before deciding on a refund but couldn't make it that far. What I like: Models are decent UI is nice Ratings: UI - 8/10 Loading Screen - 7/10 Loading times - 9/10 Optimisation - 3/10 Handling - 2/10 (nothing like a bus) Ticketing - 0/10 (stolen from bus sims, even the same controls) Voice lines - 2/10 (at least they exist) Music - 0/10 The world - 2/10 lackluster Shading - 0/10 Weird shadow flickering as people get on the bus Controls - 3/10 interesting Notable features: Full airconditioning controls Overall - 3/10 I think it will take a lot of work to see this as a serious competitor for this category. The controls feel very sluggish but at the same time too touchy. One slight tap of a key to turn and all of a sudden I'm facing the wrong way on a road. It doesn't handle like a bus in the slightest. There are good bits however it is overwhelmingly poor in most areas. It feels nigh on impossible to drive without looking like I've just had 14 pints before turning up to work. this is a good game needs to be fixing the glitches and also have bus sounds louder so we can here the engine looking forward to the free DLCs wen thay come out
On the main menu, it won't let me drive any routes and buses. I will be getting this refunded.
