About Soulstice

✦ AI summary

Control two sisters—powerhouse Briar and mystical shade Lute—simultaneously to fight off Wraith-infested horrors in a dark fantasy city, combining their dual abilities for devastating combo attacks and transformational powers. A fast-paced action game centered on sisterly synergy that weaves tactical combat with a mystery-laden narrative about sacrifice, identity, and an Order with sinister secrets.

The balance of the Holy Kingdom of Keidas is compromised when powerful, feral creatures known as “Wraiths” invade from the other side of the Veil, threatening to consume the living. Wraiths corrupt their victims and can even possess their bodies, turning into unstoppable monsters that prey upon the common folk. The “Chimeras”, hybrid warriors born of the union of two souls, are the only ones who can protect humankind.

Briar and Lute are two sisters who have been reborn as a Chimera. The transformation has granted Briar superhuman strength and resilience, while Lute, sacrificed to bind her soul to her sister’s, has become a shade with mystical powers. Voiced by Stefanie Joosten (Metal Gear Solid 5), Briar and Lute are sent on a mission to reclaim a city in ruins that has been ravaged by the Wraiths, only to discover that the Order they belong to has a far more complex plan in mind.

Explore a dark world brimming with hidden mysteries, master a diverse combat system, and inhabit the dual forces of two sisters in a coming-of-age dark fantasy story with fast-paced action, vicious enemies, and spectacular boss fights.

I liked story, characters and cutscenes. The design is top-notch, although the gameplay isn't quite what I personally enjoy. Battles: there are far too many overlapping light effects for a game where most enemy designs are black or grey, it's almost impossible to follow who is who, where and what they're doing. Also considered the fact the effects, often, actively hide the enemies on screen. Also, in some boss fights, (like arrowhead), the far camera is too... Far. On screens with lower resolution, it becomes actively impossible to tell the enemies apart from the ground. Parkour: inconsistent. Sometimes Briar edge-grabs, sometimes she slips off, sometimes the double jump is higher and sometimes it's shorter, even if my inputs are relatively consistent. Pro: the accessibility settings are great for whoever wants to enjoy the story without sweating too much, although the automatic field activation setting makes the parkour actively harder. Free-roam sections: Nothing to report, these sections are mostly pretty linear and straightforward (in a positive way), with some being much more labyrinthine. The latter require more backtracking, attention and patience, but are overall g…

Started off with some general old school DMC1 charm with a camera real similar to DMC/RE/Onimusha. It sadly devolves into just inflated HP elite mobs with tedious boss designs using the red and blue fields you need to swap between mid combat. They do have a growing variety of mobs but then the only real difference between them is how much HP they have making it take you like 3-4 minutes to kill like 3 elites. This turns the game into just a boring slogfest even on the lowest difficulty. If mods could take care of this then I wouldve finished since the story, art style and general level design is good but i got to chapter 14/25 before i just got too bored with the new bigger HP pool mobs.

really good game with some camera issues but ends on a cliffhanger with a canceled sequel

great game with some flaws. I love the environments in these types of games, the support mechanic with lute is fantastic. but very repetitive, the mazes are annoying as well, the locked camera takes getting used too but that’s the only downfall
