Cube Attack

[h3]Cube Attack is a minimalist puzzle game about evasion, with limited variety and 30+ stages. Completing its achievements would take minutes, if not for the mandatory 2 hour idle and a hidden that breaks if attempted in the wrong order. Neither good nor bad, this review is actually mixed.[/h3] You control a square and it's your objective to get to the exit. Making matters complicated are a series of similarly-shaped enemies that take the shortest path to your position. They move when you do, so the trick is to use this against them to corral them into positions where they can't catch you. There are three primary types, grey squares that move one space, red squares that move two spaces, and ghost squares that turn invisible every other turn. A couple of mechanics like switches and traps come into play, but nothing that makes the game much of a challenge to finish. It's a good little time waster if not for two issues that will affect its target audience: Achievement collectors. Eh, literally 15 minutes worth of some easy puzzles. Worth a buck I suppose. The developer is well-aware of how ridiculously short the game is, so he included an achievement for playing the game for 2+ hours. Which is obviously done to discourage people from refunding the game after actually completing it. Both doing so [i]and[/i] making such achievements is dirty, so I guess steam itself is to blame. Oh well.
