About Cube Defender

Content Expansion #2 Now Live

The second content expansion is now live! Play the new Challenge Mode, fight off new attacking enemies and play through new level designs. Find out more about what's been introduced in my recent announcement: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1000130/Cube_Defender/

Gameplay

Cube Defender is a minimalistic, addictive and fast paced tower defense game.

Defeat waves of cube enemies on a continuously expanding game map. Each round you battle a series of diverse cube adversaries, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and skills. After beating each wave, the map expands in a dynamic direction, creating a larger and more hectic battle as you build towers to destroy the incoming cube horde.

Key Features

 • Multiple turrets to build, each of which have their own strengths, weaknesses and skills. Build the right turrets to take on the right enemies
 • Fast paced tower defense game play. Build turrets across a continually expanding map
 • Each game is different with procedually generated game maps / levels. Start off at the begining and expand outwards, taking on more complex layouts as the game progresses
 • Upgrade your turrets to increase your cube smashing power. Each turret can be upgraded, picking up new skills, abilities and improving their effectiveness
 • Multiple difficulties with unique game play mechanics and adjustments to suit multiple levels of skill
 • Strategic planning required to build the right turrets for the right job. With a cap on turrets, you'll have to upgrade, sell and re-build your turrets for the ever expanding map

Future Plans

New free content updates on the horizon, with additional game play adjustments and modes on the way.
 • Additional turrets (freeze-ray, homing missiles and new projectiles)
 • New turret effects (damage over time), enemy teleportation and several others
 • Legendary difficulty, with unique game play mechanics, extreme difficulty, adjusted enemies and more
 • Expanded levels and additional enemy content (new enemies with a variety of effects and skills)

A great little Tower Defense game. I like the simple art style and low poly look of the game. It's pretty interesting too with the levels expanding and changing each play-through. It would be great to see some more level variety (ones with several spawners on higher difficulty). The turrets and enemy types are interesting with a pretty basic unlock mechanic to use each turret. Some of the invisible / speedy enemies later on are hard to deal with and sometimes escape too quickly (probably something that could be fixed with a balance adjustment) Overall a great little indie game. I'm keen to see how this game changes with more dev updates.

A refreshing take on the Tower Defense genre with an interesting twist of map expansion in a random direction during gameplay.
Pros

A decent range of turrets and enemy difficulties as levels progress
A dynamic map able to expand in multiple directions
Easy lurning curve - first few levels can be tricky to start but it's quick to figure out the mechanics
Technicolour design 👍
Regular updates (so far)
Multiple resolutions with window mode support

Cons

Difficult mode is quite difficult
Expansion of maps can be a bit offputting
Unable to adjust sound level
Some inscreen notifications can be a bit distracting
For the price point this is a quite enjoyable game where I've managed to get quite a bit of playtime. Would recommend to those who enjoy the tower defence genre for some interesting new mechanics.

Nice little tower defense ! Had the chance to play it beta, keeps improving with users feedback. Overall Nice way to kill time ! And it's cross platform with a really small file size, perfect to play it while traveling !

Really bland, and boring. As if the people who created it have never played a real TD game. Total of five towers. Each has only two upgrades, and there are no choices to be made. Towers have no target selection. The main selling point from the store page was the randomly growing map. Unlike other games like this, it grows on the end where the exit is, meaning you constantly have to build in the new area, as spawners appear pretty much right next to it. As such, there is very little in the way of clever tower placement, or strategy, no pathing of any kind, nothing. There are no tactical ability, no strategic upgrades, nothing to motivate you to want to come back and play some more. I have seen worse, but this is certainly in the bottom 20% of all TD games I have played. Three thumbs down, even if it's being given away free.

I personally, really enjoy this game. Its unique strategy style is plenty of fun for even the most novice of gamers. Endless mode is great and is an experience that keeps you entertained and on your toes the whole time. For what this game offers at its price point, I can honestly recommend it for anyone and of all ages. Thumbs up from me : )
