About Cult of the Dragon

After being falsely imprisoned for a crime they did not commit, the main character uncovers a sadistic evil cult that is slowly taking over the realm. Now they must hunt down and eliminate each member of the cult, in the hopes of stopping an evil plan that will result in the awakening of a legendary dragon, and the subsequent end of the world.
Cult of the Dragon takes place in a fantasy world that is currently experiencing peace. But the imprisonment of the player character is just the beginning of a change, as evil begins to creep from the shadows of the realm, and into the light. The player has the choice of 10 different characters from 10 different classes. The classes are Hero, Warrior, Mage, Priest, Paladin, Thief, Archer, Warlock, Monk, and Samurai. Each class has it's own unique set of weapons, along with special skills and magical spells. This means each class will play different, and each time playing is a new experience. You can play as a Witch or Wizard. Or you can play as a Samurai. The choice is yours.
The player will quickly uncover a conspiracy that is seeping into the once peaceful quiet life in the world. A mysterious cult is not only ruining the lives of the innocent townsfolk, but also gaining control of the local government. The cult itself has strange dark rituals, and a fascination with a long dead dragon. It's up to the player to put an end to this cult, before it's too late.
While the game has colorful and light visuals, the subject matter is dark. There is a deadly mystery at play, and cult members who participate in macabre activities. With many towns, cities, and villages, there are many NPCs to encounter. There are countless shops, stalls, and businesses to explore. Bakeries sell fresh bread. Cafes offer a break from the dramatic story and epic battles. There are also underground dungeons to explore, and castles to roam. The tutorial even features a large jail on an island that you will need to escape from.
Cult of the Dragon still encompasses the goal from my other games. Complete freedom. You can definitely look at the game as a medieval/fantasy life simulator. But with this release I am more focused on a really addictive battle system, a much larger and lore-packed world, with a deep story. The game is nonlinear, but guided by quests that will lead you in different directions.
Aside from defeating the cult, you'll also be able to take on quests to help the townsfolk, work jobs, and overall get immersed in the world. I won't spoil everything that there is to find.

Another flop made by "Solohack3r Studios". I should have known better after having played the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that was "Beast Slayer", and I'm certain now that giving people second chances is a waste of time. In this game, you choose one of 10 different starting characters/classes, and then you go around killing cultists (in boring turn-based battles) in towns (in an "Open World" approach) that want to awake an ancient evil dragon. No overworld exploration, no opportunities to grind as far as I can tell (which, if I'm right, results in a limited resources playthrough, so beware), other party members might join later, but I hadn't reached that far before I rage-quit. Silent protagonist, the "Hero" Reeve that I chose starts without skills and can't even rest for free in his own home, mundane NPC dialogues, no hidden items (only a few "sparkles" here and there). It's such a bland experience. Freedom to explore doesn't mean anything if there isn't anything worthwhile to explore. At least there's one upside: If you want to explore the "sample maps" that come with the RPG Maker (MZ) software, this game contains them all (and mostly unedited). Poor showing at the moment. Clearly intended to be a mobile game. Chibi sprites replaced 8-bit ones... All around, poor show. I'm extra bummed because this is now abandonware as the creator pursues their next project. I do wish them the best of luck however, because this can't be easy. Marked as free because I am a backer. * I backed this on Kickstarter and will not back another game from this creator* I have yet to encounter any of the bugs mentioned by other reviewers but I agree on that this feels quite 'low-effort' for lack of a better word. It's not a bad game as in unplayable but it feels quite lackluster in most regards and I wouldn't recommend it except perhaps at a discounted price even for oldschool RPG-fans. As the developer have already moved on to a new game, though supposedly with patching for reported issues, I feel safe in saying that I unfortunatly can't recommend the game.4 found this helpful
