About Choice of the Dragon

Tyrannize the kingdom as a fire-breathing dragon who sleeps on gold and kidnaps princesses for fun!

Choice of the Dragon is a thrilling interactive novel by Dan Fabulich and Adam Strong-Morse, where your choices control the story. The game is entirely text-based--30,000 words, without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Battle heroes, wizards, and rival dragons in your insatiable thirst for gold and infamy. Start by dominating a local tribe of goblins, then usurp the kingdom, defending and expanding your despotic regime to annex neighboring kingdoms, incinerating the peasants in their thatched-roof cottages.

O, mighty dragon, spread your wings and let your shadow fall over the terrorized nation beneath you!
  • Play as male, female, neither, or an undetermined gender
  • Find and seduce another dragon to be your mate
  • Kidnap princesses for good conversation, to bait heroes, or for a light snack
  • Isn't it a little sexist to always kidnap princesses? Kidnap a prince instead
  • Ransack holy temples, blaspheming against vengeful gods

A very short and dull game. Very boring. Annoyed that I can not keep the shield no matter what choice I make. Boring and short.

Choice of the Dragon by Dan Fabulich and Adam Strong-Morse is a text-based adventure game published by Choice of Games and using CoG’s ChoiceScript engine. The ChoiceScript engine is also used by all of Choice of Games’ games, as well as by all Hosted Games games (Hosted Games, despite being listed as a separate publisher in the store, is just a brand used by CoG). If you haven’t played any of the other ChoiceScript games, they play like a hybrid between RPGs and chose-your-own-adventure novels. At each page, you are presented with a multiple-choice question about what your character does. Unlike the paper CYOA books, you also have stats, which are altered based on your choices. Some choices may seem to have no immediate effect on the story, but they can alter your stats, which can unlock certain options much further down the road. CHOICESCRIPT GAMES ARE ENTIRELY TEXT-BASED! THIS GAME CONTAINS NO GRAPHICS OR SOUND OF ANY KIND. IF YOU REQUIRE GRAPHICS TO ENJOY A GAME, YOU SHOULD NOT PLAY THIS GAME. You take the role of a dragon in a stereotypical pseudo-medieval fantasy world, where you can kidnap princesses or princes, fend of heroic adventurers, and demand tribut…

Choice of the Dragon is a text-based game. In COTD, the player controls a single character by choosing an option from a list of them. Every choice made has a different consequence. The character's stats and all possible endings are representations of these consequences. The number of storylines every choice opens up makes it a replayable game. Choice of the Dragon is a game that emphasizes control. The menu-based interface helps players to make choices that have real consequences for the story. Although it can be limiting for some, is also comforting, as pre-given options provide a clear path for players to follow. It’s easier to make an impacting choice when given a list of options rather than an open-ended question. In its way, COTD also sparks curiosity. As players can make choices that reflect their personalities and experience what it would be like to be a dragon, they learn more about themselves. The game's stats, which keep track of the player's progress and choices, help reflect this. However, like any game, Choice of the Dragon can frustrate players if their choices lead to undesirable outcomes, like when you don’t have enough of a stat to make a choice or you end up not…

Extremely short. While Choice of Games are typically great, this one doesn't have much in the way of engaging story. Finished in 30 minutes.
