About Dangerous Galaxy
Dangerous Galaxy is a rogue-lite where you pilot an upgradeable ship through procedurally generated star systems, engaging in physics-based combat against enemies and bosses. Build your vessel your way by stacking over 35 unique passive and active upgrades, each with tier-based effects, while managing resources and discovering special events across four escalating stages.
Extensive ship upgrading system:
- Over 35 unique passive and active ship upgrades with unique effects based on their tiers.
- Unlockable main weapons that you can choose before each run.
- Freedom to build the ship in a way that you want by stacking passive and active upgrades, as long as they connect to the core of the ship.
- Each upgrade can be leveled up, and active upgrades present a unique choice of what power to add to the upgrade.
- The player can hold up to 4 active abilities at any time.
- Every object (including the player) can be pushed away, bumped into, or destroyed.
- Active abilities (like rockets) can create explosions or gravity-altering effects.
- The game is split into 4 stages. Each stage has a procedurally generated star system.
- Star systems have many levels, and each level is procedurally generated (except the boss battles).
- As you travel through the star system, the danger and difficulty of it increase, as shown in the danger meter below.
- Discover special events that allow you to choose one out of three upgrades and lost cargo containers.

I didn't really like this at first but then I put 10 hours in it while I was unlocking basically everything, so clearly there was something compelling about it. Also the dev is really cool and patched basically every way I managed to crash the game within 12 hours each time once I started complaining to them on Discord about the game crashing. Anyway, my main gripe is that the balance is a little wonky - if you ever get strong enough to just start annihilating 100% of the background rocks, you get powerful enough to win the game immediately, especially since the rocks are far more numerous and also frequently more individually valuable than the actual enemies. That said, it can be hard to get that strong, especially on the higher difficulties, but I still managed it even on the highest. Maybe that'll get patched, maybe it won't. So yeah, thumbs up. Not a huge one, but a $5 shmup that compelled me to keep playing for 10 hours at leaset deserves that.3 found this helpful
A lovely, unique, Asteroids take on the Roguelike that wants you to break the game and makes you feel powerful! Unfortunately the game can break in a different way... Pros: -Nice, clean visuals (Lovely asteroid physics where they boing off you and each other because they are individual items. Generic sci-fi enemies work in this arcade setting like Galaga enemies for instance. Nice backgrounds but they are very blue/ purple and there is a lot of grey from the asteroids. The frame rate may drop as well because of everything going on, on the screen) -Music is good enough sci-fi fare... not amazing but it works -Lovely ship upgrade mechanics that let you create overpowered builds in a very easy to understand way. Some may dislike the lack of Binding of Isaac like mystery or items that change fire drastically but it's great to work towards a powerful ship. -The base gameplay is fun too... weaving in and out of asteroids, destroying them to get gold, narrowly shooting through an asteroid field to get through, making it through the level barely with just a little bit of health left -Fair amount of starting weapons to unlock plus you gain skill points to permanently upgrade …
I had a really fun time with this game overall. The beginning feels a bit slow, but once you start understanding the mechanics and everything clicks, it really gets going. One of the most interesting design choices is the upgrade system where you combine models. It adds a nice layer of strategy instead of just doing linear upgrades. You can tell the game is crafted with a lot of care - there’s strong attention to detail in both the gameplay and presentation. If I had one personal preference, I’d probably lean toward a less “cute” visual style and more of a gritty, cool-looking aesthetic. That said, the current style is still well executed and fits the game’s tone. I did run into one technical issue: the game crashed once when I disconnected my controller mid-game because I wanted to switch to keyboard.
Dangerous Galaxy was pretty fun. I enjoyed the minigame of managing which upgrades you could select based on which connectors they had which adds a little something extra to the traditional rogue-lite replayability. The developer did a good job with a number of animations as well and it is a fun premise with the physics effects on everything.
Great semi-idle time waster. Nice progression and just fun to play.
I’m really enjoying this game so far. The levels feel nicely balanced and challenging .The graphics are well polished, and there’s a lot of depth to the gameplay ( enemies, upgrades, and level variety). It’s clear the developers put real thought into the details. Honestly, I’d happily recommend this one to anyone looking for a fun experience, especially at this price.
