Crashes/freezes on second mission, was reported three months ago and left unfixed. Steer clear of this one.

TLDR: Darkspace is a tactical combat game set in space that features turn-based battles, customizable ships and scripted missions within a broader campaign. + Acceptable combat mechanics that makes use of cover, range, terrain, weak spots and weapons + Modest customizable options for ship loadouts in custom ship designs + Story-driven missions in campaign mode; some variety in missions - Text intensive, bland narrative with characters you don’t identify with or care for - Repetitive gameplay - UI could be better -- more keyboard shortcuts, for example - No persistent units; XP from successful battles do not carry over - Seems rogue-lite in that there’s only 1 save game; unable to try out different tactics without restarting the whole scenario In summary, Darkspace is an average game that barely makes the grade; nothing more, nothing less. There are games out there in the same genre that are better, so I’d wait for it to be discounted since there wouldn’t be any pressing reasons to play this game urgently. That said, it does what it describes fairly well. 5.0/10

The tutorial gets you up to speed at a good pace. This game may look simple, but customization and detail aspects of the game add layers of strategy.

There are many different goals in the campaign missions which is great. It's not just about killing all the enemies instead we have escaping, taking over stations etc. Also the story is pretty cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tve41P89RWc

This game does what it says in it's description. Not much more, but that's not a bad thing necessarily. It's fairly focused, and you can get a reasonable amount of solid tactics gameplay out of it. It doesn't have the ship customization complexity of other games of this type, different ship sizes have fixed numbers of each type of slot, and you can unlock a few upgrades of most types. This isn't bad necessarily, as it'll keep you focused on the gameplay rather than getting stuck forever tweaking loadouts. If I had to compare this game to something, it'd be like R-Type Tactics (PSP game) or a slightly more and less complex Advance Wars. Limited scope isn't a downside. Sometimes a game is as big as it needs to be, and not more, and that's fine. Recommend for those looking for a fairly quick tactics experience with decent balance. Not recommended if you want deep customization or a huge roster of distinct units.

Buggy game which freezes on the second mission making it impossible to play any further. This bug has been reported by many people for the past three years or so already. Another refund for a game which looked so promising.
