Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can watch my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/BdwGvSo6ZzY I think this is an interesting game. It has an ASCII art-style and hide & seek horror gameplay. It's simple but it can be fun. However, I also think the normal price is way too high given what this game is. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 5090, I had no issues with performance (shocking I know). You have full locomotion and smooth turning. You can play comfortably seated, although standing may have an advantage as you're able to quickly look around. However, there are no settings available and no tutorial. You're just thrown into the game. You basically are looking for 8 yellow cubes while avoiding this evil red entity. I did not understand the AI of the red entity or how to avoid it. It seemed to teleport all over the place and your best bet was to quickly turn around if you saw it in front of you. Rate 5/10. If you can find it for $5 USD or less, it may be of value.
I bought this game!
The Good:
- Cool Concept -- What can I say, I'm always game to play hide and seek with a killer AI. - Unique Art Style -- I love the ASCII art idea. I've been a fan of classic ASCII roguelikes for ages, and it was fun seeing a nod to that sort of aesthetic in VR. - Virtual Body -- You have one! And the ASCII look applies to you, too. Nice touch. - Performance -- Ran smoothly and loaded quickly.
The Bad:
- Gameplay -- The gamplay consists entirely of slowly walking around looking for the eight golden cubes, and trying to avoid the Daemon. You don't really have much counter-play against it if it spawns near you and sees you -- no tools to distract it with, no places to hide, and you can't sprint to try to outrun it. It didn't seem to play by "Weeping Angel" rules either, so you can't try to control how it behaves by looking at it or avoiding looking at it. - Sound -- There's minimalism... and then there's this. It's almost nonexistent.
The Ugly:
- Comfort and Control Options -- There are none. Hope you like smooth locomotion and smooth turning, neither of which allow for speed…

What you probably have never seen before are the crazy ASCII vr graphics that make it look like you stepped into a Commodore 64 game or something. I think it actually looks way more intense inside the headset and the preview images don't truly do it justice. Worth checking out for the visuals.

Play this game. It's basically 'Slender the 8 Pages' with a new style.
