Test Subject 901

I remember being too spooked to finish the game, sadly my VR setup doesn't work anymore so I can't give this game another try.

"Test Subject 901" is a rather mediocre VR tech demo from a TV production business (not to be confused with game developers, which is a problem). You find yourself alone in a secret testing facility, trying to escape from whatever lurks in the darkness, everyone else is dead, work out why, escape alive, blah blah blah. It's been done before, there's nothing new here. What do you do in the game? First person adventuring, stealth mechanics and avoiding the jumpscare, all in janky unpolished VR. Despite not being in Early Access, it's obvious this is an incomplete product. Developers have an obligation to deliver complete, not partially done products to gamers, that shouldn't be controversial. Whatever the excuses may be, it does no service to gamers for incomplete products polluting Steam like this. It makes it harder for gamers to find complete games, and it makes it harder for ethical developers who do the right thing to find their audience. The assets look a little mismatched but they're also much higher quality than the actual game. It's a bit of a red flag for an asset flip, but there's no evidence or smoking gun in this case. Игра «Test Subject 901» погружает в атмосферу мрачного научного эксперимента, где игрок становится объектом тестирования в лаборатории. Сюжет развивается через исследование загадок, взаимодействие с окружающей средой и разгадывание головоломок. Атмосфера напряжённая, с элементами психологического хоррора, но сценарий остаётся предсказуемым. Графика и звуковое сопровождение добавляют ощущение изоляции и тревоги. Плюс — оригинальная идея, минус — недостаточная глубина сюжета. Подойдёт тем, кто ценит атмосферные приключения с элементами детектива.

Similar to Alien Isolation's gameplay but with a teleport mechanic which is no fun at all. Monster doesn't seem to be distracted by thrown objects and its jumpscare is way too loud for something you'll likely encounter multiple times. My successful try I wasn't even trying to be stealthy/use objects; it just went away from the path I'd eventually found in the darkness. Don't waste your time.
