✦ AI summary

Players are divided on this puzzle game: some appreciate the engaging brain-burning puzzles and find the pixel art aesthetically pleasing for a simple connect-the-dots style game, praising its approachable difficulty and tactical depth. Others criticize it as a lazy mobile app dumped on Steam with minimalist graphics, repetitive gameplay, and issues like poor controller support and lack of quality-of-life features like an undo button or professional English translation.

"Dawn of a Soul" is one of those "I can't believe it's not a mobile app" failed for-profit games that went free after the developer understandably saw the game flop. Which is bound to happen when developers make what are for all intents and purposes mobile apps and dump them on Steam instead of Google Play, then wonder why mobile gamers aren't playing the mobile app. What do you do in the game? Well, who likes math? And who likes minimalist pixelcrap? Because this is the marriage from hell for those two families. This pixelcrap mobile-app tier game has you connect different nodes to solve puzzles, with some of the laziest graphics I've seen for literally hours. Heck, this might have even done well on Google Play, they like that kind of thing over there. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valle…

Игра 'Dawn of a Soul' - это приятный сюрприз в жанре RPG!

Recommended Solid brain burning puzzles that are approachable. Really enjoyed myself as I came back to this game throughout the day until I hit a brain wall. Really enjoyable experience overall.

This is a pretty good, simple puzzle game. Aesthetics are quite nice for something that could have been presented as just another connect-the-dots style phone game. A few (pretty simple) improvements could be added: * First class controller support. Steam input is pretty good but occasionally forces you to move the mouse in a direction you didn't want, requiring a reset. * An undo button that undoes just the last node selected, not the entire run. * A counter showing the sum of available points in each color so that it's easier to figure out the required number of color changes in your head. * Professional translation. The English is perfectly understandable, but it's the kind of translation you get when someone tries to translate the grammatical structure/word order of their own language directly into a different one. At the time of this writing the game is free to play on Steam. I found it via the support for Ukraine itch.io bundle. I don't know if you could get a few bucks for it, but I think if it was ported to Android you could probably make the base game free (or have ads) and sell level packs. Mechanically and aesthetically solid.
