About Dawn of the Ashen Queen
"Dawn of the Ashen Queen" is a classic grid-based, first-person dungeon crawler reminiscent of 90s RPG games. Set out with your party to reveal the legacy of a millennia-old curse in a narrative-rich experience. Explore the colorful world of Eshavon, unearth its many secrets and fight dangerous foes sent out to stop you on your mission.
Three years have passed since Eshavon was devastated during the Grand War. A shaky truce has been concluded between the Darok tribes from the north and the Imperial Kingdom south of the Blistering Mountains. As an Emissary of the Grand Marshal, you are spreading his will, tasked with overseeing the reconstruction.
But as you visit one of the border towns, a surprise attack devastates the city and cuts you off from the rest of the empire. Together with a band of unlikely allies coming to your aid, it is now upon you to avert the danger to the empire and uncover a plot that threatens not just your earthly kingdom but the very existence of the entire continent itself.

It’s a real-time combat blobbers where you click the weapon to attack and then have a cooldown, very Eye of the Beholder style, but the difference here is that Eye was fun, had an actual systems based stats and classes and spells and gear, and this game is just a mess of ideas that probably looked good on paper but just doesn’t work together at all. AI slop all over, from every single portrait to every single background is just lazy, sloppy, AI ‘art’. Combat is literally built around combat waltzing, but if you put a point in every character’s constitution, you can facetank just about every single enemy after a few hours of leveling. The automap is generous but doesn’t allow you to put notes in, and there’s something in me that forces me to have to fill out every single blobber map ever so I went down endless samey corridors that would invariably in every level have nooks with chests that had potions, a ring, and maybe a gem that is a one-off spell. Every one of these chests is guarded by a generic enemy. I’ve only encountered one boss that I handily took down without a death or nearing a death. There is no way to sell anything, and any time you would think that you can, oh no,…5 found this helpful
Great nostalgic fun reminiscent of Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, grid based dungeons. Good puzzles, creatures, and artwork. Wish there were more games like this.2 found this helpful
I enjoyed my time playing this game. I like that it was a dungeon crawler with some variety as well as a story which i liked as well. I"m sure whatever the developer comes up with next will be successful as they were very responsive to posts looking for assistance on gameplay, bugs or general questions.2 found this helpful
A very solid Legend of Grimrock like title, with a bit more of a story focus to keep pushing you along. Needs a few more tweaks, especially in the magic department, to truly make it to be one of the greats, but overall it's quite recommended if you're looking for another game in this genre.2 found this helpful
Highly reccomended if you like grid based RPGS with live combat. I do!
