About Deadbeat
What waits when the heartbeat stills? Paradise? Nightmares? Nothing?
Only the dead know.
Rumor speaks of headphones that transmit the voices of the dead. A curious youth, Singer, receives one of these 'Deadsets' and puts it on.
A noise reaches his ears. A noise that will never stop.
DEADBEAT is a kinetic Soulslike set in the Hereafter: a surreal, quirky afterlife that some will do anything to escape.
Take on the role of Singer, a hapless youth roped into a contract with Alto, a smirking Demon with more than a few skeletons in his closet. With his voice stolen and strange new powers at his fingertips, Singer is trapped in the Hereafter until Alto's demands are satisfied... and his rivals taken out of the picture.

It seems like this game has gone totally under the radar but it's honestly a fun isometric action rpg with really nice feeling combat - time slows, posture breaks, tether grabs & chaining normal attacks with spells using secondary inputs mid-combo to name a few. The narrative and characters are reminiscient of games like Undertale & Everhood - you play as Singer, a random guy sent to the afterlife who can't talk because narrative reasons. The cool thing about the afterlife in Deadbeat is no one actually knows what the hell this place is and there's all these different factions & characters trying to figure out what to do with their eternity here.1 found this helpful
I love stumbling on games like this on steam. Controls are tight, and the game is very fun to play.1 found this helpful
It is so satisfying to attack unaware demons from behind.
