Deadlist shows strong atmospheric potential with excellent music and an innovative real-time system that keeps gameplay fresh, and players appreciate the developer's dedication and recent improvements to lighting. However, the game struggles with poor guidance and wayfinding that leaves players confused, a punishing stamina system that makes exploration tedious rather than immersive, and technical issues like frame rate drops, which significantly hamper the experience despite the game's undeniable ambition.
Deadlist has potential, but this experience was mostly just frustrating. The game gives you little to no indication of where to go which left me wandering around completely lost. There’s a difference between atmospheric mystery and feeling like you’re missing basic information, and this leaned hard into the latter. On top of that, the stamina system is brutal. You’re constantly out of stamina, which makes exploration feel slow and punishing instead of tense or scary. Between being lost and barely able to move, it felt more exhausting than immersive. A bit of guidance and a less punishing stamina system would go a long way. As it is, the game just left me confused, frustrated, and drained — literally.3 found this helpful
Needs work with the lighting and the brightness but has potential, also causes frame rated drops pretty bad nut its still under development so thats to be expected1 found this helpful
The latest update has significantly improved the lighting system, which earlier made playing in night mode nearly impossible. The real-time system is amazing, despite its simplicity, and thanks to this, I experience something new every time I launch the game, and that's just because of such a simple feature. The music in the game is amazing, it gives me chills and I'm constantly afraid of something behind me It's really hard for me to believe this is the developer's first game because the dedication he’s shown and the quality of the game already outshine most indie or early-access titles, only two weeks after release. I've never been a fan of horror games, but Deadlist is so fresh it’s made me one.1 found this helpful
