A TD builder with mobile turrets and the ability to pilot them. Could be worth to check out if you are into more manual and deliberate interfaces and planning. Stages have a pre-planning phase and a combat phase. There's nice artwork.

"Decoherence" is a sincerely made and genuine product that's a real bargain (because it's free). This is a unique spin on TD mechanics using constructible, mobile defenses rather than static towers, and it comes delivered as a polished and complete product. I might find it a "maybe" product if they had some kind of insane price on it, but given how much you get here for nothing, I still think there's insanity going on... insane value, that is. The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. Here, you get a reasonably even match, enough to give this a pass. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $10 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Which I find to be a bit of a surprise. Decoherence is a strategy game that mixes tactical combat with deckbuilding and autonomous robot units. Instead of directly controlling every action during a battle, I build a team of robots, give them abilities and then try to outthink my opponent through positioning and preparation. That unusual combination makes it feel quite different from a standard strategy game. The biggest strength for me is the planning. Before a battle begins, I have to decide which robots to bring, how they should work together and which upgrades or abilities will give me the best chance of winning. Because the units can act on their own, preparing the right strategy is often more important than simply reacting quickly during the fight. The robot designs also give the game plenty of variety. Different units have different roles, strengths and weaknesses, so I can experiment with combinations to create a team that fits my preferred strategy. Finding a combination that works particularly well against a difficult opponent can be very satisfying. The deckbuilding elements add another layer of decision-making.
