This engine is actually really nice, you should probably follow some tutorials, like what im doing currently. Will edit review sometime but this engine is niche, but amazing!

lacks some stuff i would consider basic QoL like text input boxes, scrollable elements and a functional gui system but it isn't too hard to make them yourself. otherwise it's very good.

I absolutely adore Lua. It is by far my favourite scripting language. (apart from GDscript) So, of course, I tried Defold after my LOVE2D experience was an absolute failure, I like a lot of what Defold is trying to do. I like the interface and the scripting element is pretty straightforward. But, what ultimately drove me away was just how much boilerplate is required and how frustrating it is to create GUI. I want to like Defold, but Godot really captured my heart when it comes to game development. Cheers.
