EDIT: I saw this garbage had achievements added, so I figured f**k it I'll download this again... IT'S 8.59 GB! And now they are charging CDN$ 259.99 for this?!?! Valve, Ban this "developer"! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HEDE Game Engine wants to be the next "easy" game maker out there. While it might be easy, it is so extremely flawed and absolutely terrible! Between missing features, glitches, annoying features, and just how lazy this engine is makes this a hard pass! All you need to know why to avoid this is this posted on the store page. "At the current state, you can't make a build of your game. You can play it only inside our game engine." Let me just say, that some the artwork assets included in this are actually pretty good! No real complaints there, other than there is not a whole lot to pick or choose from. Half of the assets shown in the store page are not in here, so be warned with that... Here's the thing though. It's all just repackaged Unity Store Assets. With very little looking you can just find them all there. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2403853446 On top of that, you can't add in your own assets. There is no options for sounds. …61 found this helpful
If you've ever wanted to make a game it's pretty likely you've encountered Unity rather early. It's free, very approachable even by newbies and offers about anything you might want to create a video game. While it's certainly up for debate if Unreal Engine isn't the better choice there's no question that Unity does it's job well enough as is testament by many great professional studios as well as indies using it. Oh, and it's free even for commercial projects until you hit a certain income level. So ... why make a terrible, extremely limited game engine in Unity and try to sell it on Steam for money? Yeah, I don't know either. Especially when you look at the downsides: - no standalone project generation: all "games" made with HEDE ship with the complete HEDE engine including all assets - no asset optimization: the install size is huge even for a "game" with sprite graphics and just one screen - limited choice: you can't import assets you want but are limited to what HEDE includes - extremely limited game play functions: basically you got the "choice" between making a terrible "Where's Waldo" style game or an equally terrible platformer - insanely convoluted interface: you…38 found this helpful

Garbage Game Hub for Garbage Games. Dont bother. Im on a quest of at least trying every game in my library, of which I got plenty from all kinds of bundles, not all though. If you are interested in my journey, check out my other reviews :)4 found this helpful
HEDE Game Engine developed and published by Hede is an unusual entry on Steam because it is not a traditional video game but rather a simplified game-creation tool intended to allow users to design their own small 2D experiences. Instead of presenting a story, characters, or structured gameplay, the software functions as a basic editor where players can assemble levels, place sprites, and experiment with simple mechanics. Its primary goal appears to be making the process of creating a tiny game accessible to beginners who may have no prior experience with game development. At its core, the engine allows users to construct simple platform-style games using a collection of sprites and objects. Players can select visual assets, place them within a map, and define certain elements as characters, collectibles, or objectives. The player-controlled character typically moves using standard keyboard controls such as WASD, navigating through environments filled with platforms or obstacles while collecting coins or items before reaching a designated goal. In essence, the engine provides the building blocks required to assemble a very basic platformer. The workflow is designed to be straight…1 found this helpful
