Demonborg Mining Company has become my favorite game so far this year. It is an action RPG roguelike\lite that is quite difficult, so you have to hang in there and learn different strategies to help you win. That is not a problem with this game though because it has that certain "it factor" of fun combined with the ability to not make one want to give up but instead get better to be more successful.. The store page tells you all you need to know on how to play so I'll leave that alone and just focus on what a fun and unique game Demonborg Mining Company is and how helpful, available, an just an all around dedicated dev (Ouch Giver Games) is. He is a mostly solo indie dev( His wife helps out also.) and this is his fourth game on Steam and I strongly suggest anyone reading this review checks all his games out . The 4 games are all rogue like/lite games but are all different, unique and really fun to play. If you like a little difficulty in your games and like to get plenty of fun playtime in, than I strongly recommend this game and all of Ouch Giver Games work....You'll be surprised at how much there is to to this game so don't let the low price fool you there is a lot here to enjoy…2 found this helpful
A solid rogue lite that I encourage more people to check out! It's surprising just how much scope there is to this one. A lot of customization of playstyles and a lot of stuff going on between your drone ship, 4 slots for weapons as well an aux bot to upgrade. Then you're grabbing perks to further influence or modify your playstyle. Dev is responsive, hears out suggestions whether on steam or youtube. Including making balance adjustments. Fair warning this one is a great deal more challenging than a lot of other rogue lites you may have played! You really do need to build up and upgrade a range of functions to power up over the course of a run. While there is definitely a lot of meta progression. I absolutely think your build is made over the course of a run not as a result of meta progression alone (which serves more to reduce early game growing pains). A recent update has adjusted the difficulty of the very first stage to give players a leg up on copper by limiting the HP of enemies. Update: Got through the game now at a few different difficulty levels. It's still very satisfying and I'm kind of surprised that it offers a reasonable amount of resistance despite having beat…2 found this helpful
I hate to do this to a little game but I strive to be honest: It's no bueno. Don't buy it. You pick 2 starting weapons from those you've unlocked, but you do this via 2 random choices between 2 i.e Pick 1 or 2 then pick 1 or 2 again. But the catch is; These random weapons range dramatically in balance and usefulness AND, this is the part that genuinely baffles me: Randomly affect how much HP/Hull Strength you start with. It's very easy, and far too common, to end up with 2 trash weapons and -50 to -80 HP. The difficulty curve is confusing too, as you start out on the lowest difficulty, and even on the starting area your weapons simply aren't doing much damage to enemies. Which is a problem because they sure as hell damage YOU. What's more; This game doesn't have enemy projectile destruction/Blocking via your equipment, so you're essentially just eating whatever they shoot at you. Nevermind that games like these will usually hold off on Shooting mobs coming in for a big for a reason. So; You pilot a ship made of Papier-mâché down a corridor that moves too fast, with enemies your weapons aren't strong enough to deal with quickly even on the lowest difficulty. Not dealing with th…
