Were you a fan of the original Bards Tale from the '80s. This is a very similar feel with some really nice touch ups to classes. If you miss roaming the 2d worlds of fantasy, this might fill that void.

This is a really fun game. I grew up on FF7, Diablo II and WoW, so I'm a generation right after these old school CRPGs and have been wanting to play them. NetHack is FOSS and you can get for free, but there are so many keybindings you have to learn, and I just dont have time for that with all of lifes responsibilities. This game has the retro asthetic, with intuitive controls which gets you playing right off the bat. You can enable permadeath for a true roguelike experience, or you can turn it off. You can also set game difficulty. This game is also available for free on mobile with ads, but I prefer a keyboard and mouse. Also, a couple bucks for this little gem it absolutely worth it

Great game, I personally highly recommend it but with a few caveats: 1) Inspiration: It is the closest game I could find that resembles an old demo I once played, Mordor: The Dephs of Dejenol. It is a bit of a unique game in my opinion, you could try playing the free sequel (for something akin to a beta maybe) or see some videos. 2) Usability: It has some issue with the keyboard, you can only use the default ones for movement, main action and character switching plus listing spell/consumables (though you can add them to 4 buttons in the lower/left corner you have to click on). 3) Gameplay: It is a bit repetitive & grind based, you can get more mileage out of it by trying different parties though. In your dungeon treks/delves you have to retreat when it makes sense. Isn't difficult though, I play it on the highest difficulty and only had one death for a low level caracter, though damage spikes are possible. Parties: A tank&healer combo and good equipment help. There are some guides, I personally first used a party of non offensive spellcasters
A) Tank: Vanguard Paladin; B) Utility: Explorer Ranger; C) Damage: Assassin Thief; D) Healing: Spiritualist Shaman
.…

WOW! What a game! I just played 11 hours of this game in the last several days and it just slam-dunks all the good spots a game like this should! After beating the game it flows right into the new game+ with even more random levels and tougher enemies. YES! This game is like a love letter to Mordor: Depths of Dejenol. A well made and very fun version of it. Different enough that it's own game but the soul of MDoD is there... thank you dude! Seriously thank you so much for making this game! ____ Previous Review ____ OH! MY! GOD!!!!!!!!! I've only been playing 30 minutes and I want to pick you up and hug you Javier!!!!!! I'm 48 years old right now and feel like I'm a teen again, playing Morder DoD and feeling all the feels with that!! My party is running around on the first floor, hit the teleport trap, and I just immediately felt that "OH NO!!!" feeling I did so often 30 years ago... then realized I was still on the first floor, but drowning! "GET OUT OF THAT ROOM YOU ENTRY LEVEL DORKS!!!" They survived and I made it back to the town without dying... OH I LOVE THIS!!!! THANK YOU JAVIER!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!
