Desert Blossom

Desert Blossom totally blew me away, it’s a really good RPG! It strikes a really nice balance between humor, emotion, and drama without ever feeling forced. I especially enjoyed all the interactions between Mars and the other girls (Yuan Pu and Agrace in particular) really stood out to me. If you're into yuri stories or just love strong, well-written female characters, you’ll definitely enjoy this! The combat is pretty simple but still feels satisfying, and the writing, especially the item descriptions and little character moments is funnier than I expected in the best way

It's an excellent yuri game, cute, funny, and lighthearted. - Pretty, colorful, high-quality artwork with many CGs. Nice soundtrack. - Cute, vivid and lively characters. Sweet and enjoyable interactions between them. Generally good writing. - Couples, couples everywhere, lots of them! - Various easter eggs from yuri works & funny item descriptions. Buy yuri manga to raise your teammates' stats, whack monsters with Shimamura's sword... - Lovely little frames around the character portraits in their sexuality colors. - The game is story-focused (~75k words in English) and friendly to visual novel players. There is zero grinding, and the difficulty is just right - not too easy to be boring nor too hard to distract from the story. Even if you're playing a JRPG for the first time, you won't need to restart battles and kill your cute characters over and over to advance the story a little. The final battle is slightly harder, so bring more lily essence and resurrection cherries. - All 5 endings can be achieved quickly. Losing or winning the final battle gives you bad or happy ending of the current route. You can then reload the save before the final battle and the "affection box" will appe…

I played Desert Blossom in Chinese before and decided to try the English version this time. Tbh en localization pretty good for me now (2026) probably bcs the translation's been updated over time. This game’s packed with a lot of yuri/acg memes, if you're into yuri culture you'll probably catch a bunch of funny ones in items and story moments, really entertaining. At first I was shipping Mars × Agrace since Yuanpu was kinda too young but by the end Yuanpu's growth lowkey got to me... The characters are all well-written with their own rich stories and personalities. Mini Theater stories are quite interesting too with cute little ship moments and side stories. Though many scenes rely a lot on text so sometimes it feels more like reading a visual novel than playing an RPG. Feels like the RPG mechanics could have been used more, but still devs got mad potential, looking forward to the next game! Anyway, 10/10 for fully yuri story in good quality game!

I want to be able to recommend this game, I really do, but the English translations are just so utterly terrible that I'd go so far as to say that it's a dealbreaker. If you want to enjoy the story, lore, character building, and character interactions in even a reasonable capacity I would honestly suggest waiting for a better translation, whenever that might be... EDIT: New translations are being worked on and implemented, I've now given this a positive score.

Tentative yes. Just enough hype moments and aura (and fan service) to make the lackluster story worth it. gets completely overshadowed in his own game, and it's way too long, but the JRPG mechanics feel good and the characters are way too entertaining to skip
