About Devil in the Pines

Devil in the Pines provides an undeniably nerve wracking experience as you accomplish one simple goal: find the key. As evil and fear works against you, you must steady your hand as much as possible, because when demons find you, a single missed shot is likely fatal. You wield nothing but a crossbow with 6 bolts, a flashlight, and campfires to protect you from the evil supernatural entities that will stalk, intimidate, and attack you without relent. One life, one pull of the trigger, and your daughter's life hangs in the balance.
  • Terrifying, Adaptive AI
Supernatural enemies like you haven't faced before. Super fast, unpredictable, and they improve their attack the longer you stay alive.
  • White-Knuckle Climax
Once you find the key to open the mine, prepare for an ending you won't soon forget as all hell literally breaks loose.
  • Menacing Paranormal Encounters
Never let your guard down. Demons are not the only thing to be afraid of.
  • Immersive Hint System
Try your best to not cover your eyes. Keep a lookout for different forms of direction to help you find your way.
  • Vast, Open Level
Be mindful of your compass and campfires as it’s easy to get lost in the forest. Be rewarded for venturing into the black—find supplies leftover from past unfortunate hikers.
  • Dynamic Gameplay
Each time you die, elements change to ensure no two games are the same.

Nice little survival game. Just keep in mind it can be finished in about 15 minutes or less. There are 3 difficulties, it took me 40 minutes to beat the game on each. Also the game felt a bit random for me, especially when enemies appear. Still I had fun.

⭐⭐ This is a very simple little indie horror in which you roam a wooded area with a crossbow in search of a key that randomly spawns on the ground somewhere. The goal is to avoid being killed by the 2 different types of enemies that can spawn, find the key and run back to the mineshaft it opens for the final little sequence. You can also find matches to start protective fires, medkits to heal yourself and batteries for your flashlight. Very short game with not a lot going on but I tend to enjoy these sort of "homemade" feeling indie titles and for less than $5 I can't really complain. I played it on all 3 difficulties and each run took me about 15-20 minutes. The different difficulties honestly didn't seem that much different. I wouldn't say it's a scary game but it does make you feel sort of on edge and nervous the whole time due to the fact that if you do get caught off guard by something and killed you need to start your search all over again. That being said the scariest thing in the game is not the demons but rather the bear traps. Made me jump every time.

First impressions, the only real machanic it explains doesn't work at all. "Safe place - protects from demons!" then dies because i was standing near what it says is a safe place. The fire was placed a couple secconds before the arm even spawned it. It trapped me, i got free. then got killed by a different demon. this was my 2nd run. Also the 'run' thing as i didn't actually stop running. accendently turned my mouse to the side and when i turned it back i died. This was the first run. I was gifted this, and this feels like one of those quick idea demos. Not a game at all. I feel bad that a friend decided i should try this game and bought me it. Appolageze for bad spelling, steam doesn't allow the auto fixing of text. I just suck at spelling.

fun game but things pop out way to often when you have limited supplies

For just a few dollars, this is a pretty scary game. I recorded all 3 levels of difficulty cause why not, and there are some pretty interesting mechanics and scare tactics and the harder levels have added encounters it seems. It's very interesting and worth a look at. As far as replayability is concerned, I'm never going to touch it again since I've beaten all 3 modes, but I am still glad I checked it out to begin with. It's sort of more of a one off game, or if you do all 3 levels, a 3 off. Overall, it's decent.

Pretty neat, this should have more recognition.
