If Dirt Rally 2.0 didn't exist, I would recommend this game as a direct upgrade to DiRT 3 Complete Edition. But because Dirt Rally 2.0 exists, this isn't recommended. It's fun to give it a try, to see the improvements that 2.0 brings over this version, which is a LOT. But they removed Split Peaks from this game in Dirt Rally 2.0 for unknown reasons. If they brought back Split Peaks to 2.0 as DLC content i'd buy it in a heartbeat. Because tuning in Dirt Rally is lackluster and doesn't seem to affect the car all that much, to me at least. On Split Peaks, i spend hours adjusting the car modern car values and it'll perform REALLY WELL in the first half and then like dog poop in the second half. And vice versa. No perfect tune without going on a meta tuning spree.

I've been playing racing games since 1992. Dirt Rally is the GOAT. I have difficulties finding a racing game that has been so satisfingly rewarding, for so long. The game is an absolute blast and has been for more than ten years. I have learned more about driving thanks to that game than the rest of my life reading magazines and driving real cars. Dirt Rally might feel hard during the first days, but that's because it has a tremendous and rare confidence in what every player is able to achieve. Personnally, I prefer it to Dirt Rally 2.0, but it's really a matter of taste and habits. PS : playing with Xbox Elite Controller // I've been playing off Steam a lot too, so I probably have five times the hour count in total.
