Following up on Disconnect; Disconnect 2 explores the various stages of life through a dog's eyes.
In this 3D real-time puzzle platformer, use your fast reaction time to dash a skull from platform to platform while deciphering the path to the next checkpoint. Regular platforms shrink on contact; one wrong move, and it's back to where you started. Find power-ups throughout each level or collect coins to purchase more.Use your power-ups to your advantage, and don’t lose your way. Not all platforms are equal, and you’ll need to adapt to how each one behaves. Use foresight and precision to overcome the dynamic levels and reach the final destination.Upon completing each stage, you’ll unlock a new story segment that offers insight into the trials and tribulations of the human character we see throughout the journey. Not Recommended Disconnect 2 has some genuinely clever puzzle-platforming ideas. Rotating the camera can reveal new ways to cross platforms, including diagonal routes that are not possible from the default angle. I also enjoyed learning the timing of moving, disappearing, and stacked platforms. Once everything lined up, completing a difficult section felt satisfying. Unfortunately, the controls caused too many unintentional deaths. On keyboard, the game sometimes acted as though I was still holding a movement key after releasing it. Other times, an input did not register at all. The Steam Deck joystick was even more sensitive and could suddenly send the skull off the platform. The D-pad worked much better and was the most reliable control option I tested. I also encountered several technical issues. My character became stuck at checkpoints around 10 times, occasionally requiring multiple reloads before I could continue. The camera also stopped rotating after some checkpoints, forcing me to die or reload the section. I did not experience crashes or major performance problems, but these smaller bugs happened often enough to make an already difficult game much more frustrating. Th…
